Blake Horstmann was one of the more controversial contestants on last summer's season of Bachelor in Paradise. From choosing Tayshia for his first date instead of Hannah, to later standing in between Dylan and Hannah, Blake was not one of the more popular personalities in Paradise. Recently though, Blake answered some fan questions on Instagram and cleared a few things up for us. Here's what he had to say, and who he thinks is really to blame for some of the drama.

Why Did Blake Ask Tayshia Out?

Fans were surprised when Blake got the first date card and asked Tayshia Adams out instead of Hannah Godwin, whom he'd been flirting with before filming for Paradise had begun. But in a recent Instagram story Q and A, Blake clarified what really went down: "When I received the date card I 100% planned to take Hannah" he revealed. "I even left my interview saying I was gonna take Hannah. When I walked out of the interview 3 producers sat me down for close to an hr and convinced me to take Tayshia. It was 100% my decision they didn’t force me or anything, but at that point I really truly did trust the producers and that they had my best interest."

Blake Believes the Producers Manipulated Him

Although Blake assured his followers that all the decisions he made while on Bachelor in Paradise were his, he also explained that he made them with guidance from the producers under the impression that they had his best interests at heart--which he now believes they didn't. "Obviously I was very wrong and they didn’t want me to be happy with Hannah bc that would have very much ruined there plans for the season…" he wrote. This revelation is not new for Hortsmann, however, as he has called Bachelor in Paradise producers "evil" in the past.

The Show is Not Scripted...

.... But that doesn't mean that the contestants always act the way they normally would! A fan asked Blake if Bachelor in Paradise was scripted, or if the producers just tried to convince participants to make the most dramatic choices, and Blake seemed to agree with the latter. "It is in no way scripted!" was his reply. "They will put you in situations to see how you react and they will ask questions to steer the conversation, but they never tell you what to say, how to say, or when to say…”

Blake Has No Regrets

Although it might look like his behavior cost him Hannah Godwin's affections, Blake insists that he has no regrets from Bachelor in Paradise and that everything worked out the way it was supposed to. Hannah ended up with Dylan Barbour, and while Blake is still single, but Blake believes they're the perfect pair: "Everything worked out tho bc Hannah and Dylan are perfect for each other and will live happily ever after," he wrote, assuring his fans of his goodwill toward his fellow Paradise alumni.
