It was strangely reported that Donald Trump turned to Alex Rodriquez for advice on how to respond to the coronavirus pandemic. A source, who has requested to remain anonymous, said that Rodriquez received a "pleasant" phone call from President Donald Trump according to USA TODAY Sports on Saturday.

With the world's top doctors and medical experts at his disposal, the President made a decision to reach out to the former New York Yankees shortstop as the coronavirus cases reach epic proportions.

Could this be true? Well aside from USA TODAY's first-hand account, ABC's John Santucci and Katherine Faulders were the first to break the news stating that Rodriguez has no official plans to assume a role in government. According to President Trump, the ABC report was false with confirmation in the tweet, "More Fake News!"

To this, John Santucci responds with an additional tweet stating, "A source close to Rodriguez told @ABC the call with Trump was “pleasant” adding that Trump was seeking thoughts from ARod about the coronavirus response. Sources say there was no discussion of AROD or his fiancé Jennifer Lopez taking on any official effort."

It's hard to know where the truth is coming from nowadays when multiple credible sources are reporting the same story but the highest figure of authority, our Commander and Chief, is stating it as a lie.

Since the beginning of our current period in politics, neither the government nor the media have kept a clean track record. Even Rodriguez has had his fair share of scandal; back in 2014, he served a one-year suspension for his involvement in the Biogenesis Scandal in which he and multiple other players were linked to a clinic and provided with performance-enhancing drugs.

It is also clear that President Trump may not be in support of Rodriguez's history and connection to the scandal. "The @Yankees should immediately stop paying A-Rod—he signed his contract without telling them he was a druggie," Donald Trump tweeted in response to the decision to suspend the Yankee back in 2013.

Publically the two have had their quarrels, since the scandal, so it seems very unlikely that they would form an alliance over the COVID-19 pandemic, especially given the fact of Rodriguez's political stance.

During the Presidential Election of 2016, Alex Rodriguez was a reported high-profile donor of Trump's opponent Hillary Clinton and provided $2,700 to her campaign according to CBS Sports. Has Rodriguez changed his views and is now in support of Trump? Or is Trump in need of some celebrity support and endorsements?

Maybe it is a case of mistaken identity, or maybe President Trump knows something we don't about Alex Rodriguez. Either way, there has been no confirmation or denial from the Yankee himself who is currently quarantined in his Miami home, making TikTok's with Jennifer Lopez and their fairly new blended family.
