Action star, Idris Elba, was one of the many actors in Hollywood who revealed that he had tested positive for COVID-19. But, recent rumors have been aiming to suggest that actors are being paid to say that they tested positive for the virus in order to cash in.

Elba made sure to address this immediately and took to his Instagram Live on Tuesday along with his wife, Sabrina Dhowre, who had also tested positive, and showed his distaste for people who could even think such a thing.

"I think that the negativity around 'test shaming' is, like, counterproductive, I don't see what people get out of that," Elba said.

One of the difficulties in defeating the pandemic is that the testing for coronavirus in the United States has become very difficult for the majority of the country. Several factors including medical costs and even limited space in hospitals prevent those who are feeling symptoms to get tested while many celebrities have been able to find their ‘private’ ways to get test results.

"It shouldn't be about whether rich or poor gets it, everyone should be able to get a test for sure," Elba said.

He also slammed all claims that he and other celebrities had been paid to say that they tested positive for the coronavirus.

"Also, this idea that someone like myself is gonna be paid to say 'I’ve got coronavirus,' that’s, like, absolute bulls—," Elba said. "Such stupidness and people wanna spread that as if it’s news. That’s stupid. That’s the quickest way to get people sick. There's no benefit to me and Sabrina sitting here saying we've got it when we ain't got it. I don't even understand the logic of that."

Cardi B, is suggested to be on of the celebrities that have suggested that other celebrities could somehow be cashing in on claiming that they have tested positive for the virus. She took to her Instagram Live this week and even suggested that celebrities announcing they had the coronavirus were like influencers selling "Flat Tummy Tea."

"I'm starting to feel like y'all n—as is paying n—as to say that they got it," she said. "If y'all are paying n—as to say that they got it, pay me too."

Fortunately, although the couple tested positive for the virus, Elba and Dhowre say they do not have any symptoms and mentioned that he got tested after meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Trudeau, who later tested positive.

He talked with Oprah Winfrey on her Apple TV+ series, Oprah Talks COVID-19, and mentioned that not showing symptoms was an important thing to mention.

'I’m glad you brought that up, because I think that’s a real key component here," he said to Winfrey. "I could be in the public, I could be at home with my family, I could be still spreading it, and I have no symptoms."
