Evangeline Lilly is an actress most famously know for her roles in the TV show Lost, and Marvel's Ant-Man (1 and 2). But unfortunately for Lilly, her name was in the headlines for a completely different reason.

While everyone has been running to get in doors, and stay there like they've been told to do, Evangeline Lilly, had a different stance on the issue, and it was radical enough to get everyone on social media angry, especially since it had to do with her kids/family.

Lilly's Controversial Post

Last week Lilly made a post about dropping her kids off at a gymnasium camp, as innocent as it seemed (on a normal day at least), some were confused as to why she wasn't quarantining her kids/herself.

It was her response to this got everyone absolutely stirred up. Replying to a comment, Lilly wrote:

"I am living with my father at the moment, who has stage four [leukemia]. I am also immune compromised at the moment. I have two young kids. Some people value their lives over freedom, some people value freedom over their lives. We all make our choices. With love and respect."

Maybe having '#businessasusual' after the post didn't help her case against the mob, but regardless, the masses began berating Lilly for the disregard for herself, and her family. The list included Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner, and her co-star on Lost, Maggie Grace.

Lilly did the smart thing, and went back to Instagram to right her 'wrongs' in a lengthy apology. It begins with:

"I am writing you from my home where I have been social distancing since Mar 18th – when social distancing was instituted in the small community where I am currently living.

At the time of my Mar 16th post, the directives from the authorities here were that we not congregate in groups of more than 250ppl and that we wash our hands regularly, which we were doing."

Lilly continued on, reassuring everyone that she is doing her part now:

"Two days later, those directives changed and, despite my intense trepidation over the socioeconomic and political repercussions of this course of action, PLEASE KNOW I AM DOING MY PART TO FLATTEN THE CURVE, PRACTICING SOCIAL DISTANCING AND STAYING HOME WITH MY FAMILY.

I want to offer my sincere and heartfelt apology for the insensitivity I showed in my previous post to the very real suffering and fear that has gripped the world through COVID19."

"My direct and special apologies to those most affected by this pandemic. I never meant to hurt you. When I wrote that post 10 days ago, I thought I was infusing calm into the hysteria. I can see now that I was projecting my own fears into an already fearful and traumatic situation." said Lilly.

While her comments on valuing 'freedom over their lives' was a little out there, we can only assume that Lilly didn't mean to stir up such situation, and we're glad she cleared it up in the end.
