The MTV European Music Awards was memorable for many artists, especially Ed Sheeran and Korean pop icons BTS.
The stars emerged as the biggest winners at the Awards ceremony, which was held on Sunday. Artists were able to mingle and enjoy a physical event, unlike 2020’s virtual ceremony.
The star-studded show was hosted by rapper and performer Saweetie, who took home an “EMA” award for Best New Act.
Ed Sheeran Bags 2 Big Awards, BTS Take Lead On Number Of Trophies
BTS and Ed Sheeran showed the world that they are not slowing down as they won the most awards at the MTV “EMAs” ceremony on Sunday, Variety reported.
The event was held live at Hungary’s Papp László Budapest Sportaréna and was shown on MTV in 180 countries. The event had a river theme with stages that seemed to float.
BTS won the awards for Best Pop, Best group, Best K-Pop, and Biggest Fans. Unfortunately, the booked and busy performers were not present to receive their awards.
Sheeran, who opened the show with a rendition of “Overpass Graffiti” and “Shivers,” received two iconic awards: Best Song for “Bad Habits” as well as the Best Artist award.
In an interesting turn of events, Justin Bieber, who had the highest nominations, did not take home a win from any of the eight categories.

With his win in the Best Latin category, Maluma noted that Columbia no longer belonged to Pablo Escobar but, “Colombia is Maluma, baby.”

The 2021 MTV EMA’s Best Artist Reveals Daughter’s First Word
While at the pink carpet in Hungary for the EMAs, Papa Bear Ed Sheeran told Entertainment Tonight about his daughter Lyra’s first word.
The “Bad Habits” singer, who shares the 1-year-old with wife Cherry Seaborn, said his daughter has been saying” ‘dad’ for a while.”
The EMAs “Best Song” award winner said he was unsure if Lyra was referring to him because she has been “pointing at random s**t” while saying the heartwarming word.
While he attended the star-studded ceremony, Sheeran said his daughter was enjoying time at his parent’s home. He shared that Lyra is walking and talking, and it is simply incredible.
The star had no idea he would win with two iconic awards at the time. He said he enjoys attending and performing at such ceremonies. Even if he wins nothing, “it’s all good.”
