People Magazine recently dubbed Paul Rudd the Sexiest Man Alive, and Ryan Reynolds has some hilarious advice to pass on to him. The Deadpool actor received the same title in 2010 and shared that he had some regrets about how he handled the situation.
Like Rudd, Reynolds responded to the title by being bashful and in disbelief, but that reaction doesn’t sit well with him now. The 45-year-old jokingly told Rudd that he shouldn’t act shy or humble about the award but instead seize the opportunity.
Being dubbed the Sexiest Man Alive may sound like a joke or a figurehead position in the outside world.
However, it is still an incredible feat to achieve. It means that the titleholder is recognized not only for career prowess but also physique.
Paul Rudd Is People’s Sexiest Man Alive For 2021
The Sexiest Man Alive Award certainly came as a shock to Rudd. The 52-year-old actor has been called many things ranging from nice, kind, hardworking to self-deprecating, and he has taken them all in stride but being called sexy seems quite new to him.
For People’s this week cover story, the actor said, “I do have an awareness, enough to know that when people hear that I’d be picked for this, they would say, ‘What?’. This is not false humility. There are so many people that should get this before me.” Comments like this and his beautiful green eyes and quick smile are why audiences can’t get enough of him.
Despite his title, Rudd has maintained that he’s most content at home with Julie, his wife of 18 years, and their two children Jack, 17, and Darby, 12. “When I think about myself, I think of myself as a husband and a father, like I’m that,” he said. “I just hang out with my family when I’m not working. That’s what I kind of like the most.”
Rudd revealed that when he told his wife the news, she was ‘stupefied’ but very sweet about it and ultimately agreed with their choice. He also talked about his friends and how they’d never let him hear the end of the matter, which is no surprise because that’s what friends do.
Ryan Reynolds Advised Rudd To Own His Title
When Reynolds heard the news, the former Sexiest Man Alive had some words of wisdom he wanted to impart in Rudd. The actor jokingly said that the title would be ‘wasted’ on Rudd because he would play it shy like many before him.
While on The Today Show on Wednesday, the actor said, “Of course it is. I just heard about this this morning. I’m very excited. I think that this opportunity will be wasted on him, like so many before him,” he joked. “He’s going to play it shy. He’s going to play it bashful, humble. If I know what I knew now, I wouldn’t. You got to seize this opportunity.”
Being the former titleholder, Reynolds also stated some things he could have done differently then. “If I got it now, I’m not saying I would leave my family, but they would need to go on without me,” he joked. “I would roam the world clutching my dog-eared People magazine, going from town to town, sewing my wild oats like some sort of nude, magical gardener. It would be amazing.”
Paul Rudd Is Looking Forward To The Perks Of The Title
Still, in his People’s interview, Rudd opened up about how he isn’t going to be modest at all; instead, he will own his title and might even go as far as having business cards made. He also admitted how he hoped the title would change his life.
The Ant-man actor said, “I’m hoping now that I’ll finally be invited to some of those sexy dinners with Clooney and Pitt and B Jordan. And I figure I’ll be on a lot more yachts. I’m excited to expand my yachting life.”
“And I’ll probably try to get better at brooding in really soft light. I like to ponder. I think this is going to help me become more inward and mysterious. And I’m looking forward to that,” Rudd jokingly added.
Ryan Reynolds In ‘Red Notice’
Reynolds has been in several movie projects recently, and his latest one is a Netflix film called “Red Notice.” The 45-year-old actor will be acting alongside Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and “Wonder Woman” actress Gal Gadot.
The movie is an action thriller that follows the unlikely partnership of a conman, played by Reynolds and a disgraced FBI agent played by Johnson to stop the theft of a priceless artifact.
The movie production initially started last year, but it was held up for six months because of the pandemic. It was finally finished earlier this year and released on November 12; however, it was shown in select cinemas from November 5 and only debuted on Netflix six days later.
