Britney Spears has suggested that she’s beaten Usain Bolt. The 38-year-old pop icon broke away from her long pattern of swimwear or dress photos recently to share her running achievements – the “Toxic” singer is currently in quarantine on account of the novel coronavirus, but she’s keeping her fitness up.
An Instagram post shared on Wednesday simply showed the star’s smartphone screen as she shared a quick 100-meter run that the screenshot showed to have been accomplished in 5.97 seconds. World champion Usain Bolt currently holds the 100-meter world record with his 9.58 seconds.
Britney’s screenshot showed the clock recording 5.97 seconds, although the caption was really what got fans talking.
“Ran my first 5 !!!! Getting over your fear of pushing it in the beginning is key …. once I did that I hit 5 !!!!! Usually I run 6 or 7 …. my first try was 9 …. and now I did it whoop !!!!! 100 meter dash ??♀️??? !!!!!” she wrote.
The post currently sits at over 84,000 likes on the singer’s Instagram. Here, comments were already picking up on what appeared to be a claim to a new world record.
“Is your distance correct. Lol Usain Bolt world record time 100m dash is 9.58 seconds,” a fan wrote.
Over 2,300 users liked the comment.
A quick scroll through the comments section to Britney’s post shows one thing – basically, the same response over and over.
“Are you saying you ran 100 meters in 5 seconds Britney,” one fan asked.
“Usain Bolt doesn’t even run the 100m this fast…” another wrote.
“I don’t think you’re doing something right” was another reply.
“Queen of rounding down,” a fan wrote.
Britney’s social media has sparked concern of late, although it’s worth noting that not many fans in this post raised the mental health worries sparked over February and March as the blonde posted 12+ similar images of herself in a sporadic spree that also saw her speak with a British accent.
Britney failed to deliver one promise she made as the COVID-19 pandemic grew. The star promised she’d be delivering a yoga pose a day over on her Instagram – fans largely seem to have forgotten that only two were delivered, and this might be because the pop queen has delivered way more.
Britney straight up said “DM me” as she offered to pay for food, diapers, or other essentials as millions face hard times. The #DoYourPart challenge saw her tagged by 28-year-old sister Jamie Lynn – both sisters made the offer.
Britney recently updated her Instagram in a cute striped sundress as she admitted that she doesn’t have all the answers.
“Today we should reflect on the positive things in life !!!! So many of us get stir crazy about what’s going on and although I don’t have all the answers .…. I do know how to try to stay strong and positive and show courage ??????????? !!!!! Keep your heads up my friends !!!!!” she wrote.
Fans seemed to respond warmly – both to seeing Britney and for what appears to be a celebrity who is 100% keeping the spirit up.
Britney called coronavirus both “horrendous” and “crazy” as she promised the diapers/food donations.
