Travis Scott has been receiving a lot of heat over the last nine days, due to his Astroworld Festival being the subject of hundreds of injuries, and nine deaths. The Houston superstar has been accused of not stopping the festival, while injuries were occurring, but he has since maintained that he didn’t know the severity of the situation, until the night was over.
Travis’ ‘Astroworld’ Album Oddly Sees Jump On Billboard Charts
While Travis has been getting “canceled,” by many critics on social media, there are plenty of fans who aren’t abandoning him. This is evident in that his 2018 “Astroworld” album, seeing even more sales. Prior to the Astroworld Fest tragedies, it stood at number 50, on the Billboard 200 chart.
According to Hits Daily Double, Travis’ fourth studio album is set to stand at number No. 38, this week. 14,666 equivalent units have been sold, as 617 are in pure sales. At least 17 million streams have also been accumulated, since November 5, the date of the festival.
‘Astroworld’ Was The Number One Album In The US
Astroworld was the hottest album in the country, at the time of its’ release. At that time, it saw a number one debut, on the Billboard 200. This was Travis’ first number one album, as it was led by plenty of hit singles, such as “Sicko Mode,” featuring Drake and “Butterfly Effect. Additional appearances included Swae Lee, Stevie Wonder, The Weeknd, Quavo, and more.
Astroworld is also the latest album, released by Travis. Prior to the Astroworld Festival tragedies, he was promoting his upcoming fifth studio album, “Utopia.” Currently, there is no official release date, for this project. On the day of the festival though, he put out two new songs, in “Mafia,” and “Escape Plan.”
Travis Has Reportedly Not Left His House, Since Festival
What happened at his own festival has definitely appeared to have shaken up Travis mentally. In a new interview with TMZ, his attorney, Ed McPherson, claimed that he hasn’t left his Houston home. All those affected by the horrific events on his festival have been on Travis mind, and doesn’t plan to go back to performing, anytime soon.
“The fact that it did happen to Houston which he loves and he has so many people there he’s close to … it’s particularly devastating. He’s been at his house locked away since this happened and not coming out at all.” McPherson went on to say that Travis is mainly concerned about “the families” and is focusing on “healing” for them. “I don’t think Travis is thinking [about] performing at this point. That’s the last thing on his mind right now.”
Travis Has Dropped Out Of Several Events
Travis was initially set to perform at this past weekend’s Day N Vegas festival, but in the days after Astroworld Festival, he decided to drop out of the lineup. Post Malone went on to replace him. “Travis Scott Night” was also supposed to happen at the Houston Rockets game, on November 10. Instead, the home town team decided to give a moment of silence for the nine victims, ahead of that game, vs the Detroit Pistons.
