Princess Diana and Prince Charles got married in 1981. She was literally thrown into the Royal life at just 20 years old, while Prince Charles was older at 33. In public, they were the perfect match. However, Diana wasn't happy being married to Charles or being a member of the Royal family. Really, they were the worst match ever.

Although the Princess wasn't happy with Charles and being a member of the Royal family, the public loved her very much and was all devastated when she was in a car accident and died tragically.

Although it seemed like she was a perfect fit with the Royal family, she never got used to being with them. And, even though she wasn't happy being married to Charles, she was a very devoted mother to her two young sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

When she married Prince Charles in 1981, they barely knew each other and were very unhappy together. Charles was also in love with his now-wife, Camilla Parker Bowles whom he was having an affair with while he was married to Diana.

Her life wasn't easy with the Royal family. One reason was because of how she was a rebel against the traditions of the family. This often put her in direct conflict with the Queen, Charles, and some of the other Royal family members.

One reason why Princess Diana was unhappy in the Royal family and with being the wife of Prince Charles was that since she was a young woman still, this was the first time she had ever been away from her family.

According to Royal biographer, Penny Junor, "[Princess Diana] was just bitterly unhappy, she was disappointed in her marriage as was Charles it was a car crash from the very beginning. When Charles and Diana got together it seemed on paper that this was the most perfect match, but Diana’s childhood had been very difficult and the happy jolly-go-lucky venire that she presented to the world was nothing more than a venire. Charles was a very complex character and the two of them was about the worst match you could possibly have made.”

Although she seemed to have the weight of the world on her shoulders, with all of the responsibility a Princess has, she still rebelled from Royal tradition and did whatever she wanted to do to express herself. She was a young woman, still after all.

One thing she did to express herself was to get a new haircut. However, she got the new haircut and showed it off to the public on the same day as the State Opening of Parliament. This made the Queen very angry with her.

British media outlets took to Diana's new haircut right away and it was all over the news and British tabloids. This was what really upset the Queen. Not because she had a new haircut at all, because she didn't mind Diana getting her hair cut. It was the fact that she debuted her new haircut during the State Opening of the Parliament and took away from the attention it deserved.

Because of this argument, the Queen and Diana had over getting her haircut during this important event, Diana and her hairstylist made sure to go for more low-key looks so as not to upset the Queen anymore.
