The lingo on Britney Spears‘ Instagram account has shifted. The 38-year-old pop icon once came with “Invented” as the standard response to just about everything she did – with the novel coronavirus being the biggest talking point around, though, the “Toxic” singer’s fans have adjusted their responses to center around COVID-19.
Britney has proven immensely active on social media amid the global pandemic now responsible for over 19,000 deaths worldwide. She’s straight-up offered to pay for food and diapers, she’s promised (but not quite delivered) a yoga pose a day, and just this week, she called for wealth redistribution as America (and the world) faces harsh times.
Britney updated her account on Wednesday, sharing two stunning photos of herself looking confident, healthy, and beautiful. The mom of two did appear to have reposted from her now-deleted Tuesday snaps, but Britney’s fans don’t care.
Seen posing in a spaghetti-strap sundress with red and white stripes, Britney looked right into the camera as she wore her bombshell blonde hair down, then taking to her caption to send out love and good vibes.
“Today we should reflect on the positive things in life !!!! So many of us get stir crazy about what’s going on and although I don’t have all the answers,” she began.
“.…. I do know how to try to stay strong and positive and show courage ??????????? !!!!! Keep your heads up my friends !!!!!”
While a popular response did see a fan tell the star that her makeup “isn’t good,” the bulk of replies sent the singer the thumbs-up.
“OMG I CAN’T BELIEVE BRITNEY JUST CURED CORONAVIRUS,” a fan replied, with the comment quickly racking up likes.
“Icon,” a user responded.
“Queen of positivity” was another comment, with many fans referencing COVID-19: “Amen. Right on. Us 80s babies are built for this,” one fan wrote.
Britney is currently fronting media outlets on account of a recent social media post that addressed wealth amid the pandemic.
Captioned “Communion beyond walls,” the post quoted writer Mimi Zhu, reading:
“During this time of isolation, we need connection now more than ever. Call your loved ones, write virtual letters. Technologies like virtual communication, streaming and broadcasting are part of our community collaboration.”
“We will learn to kiss and hold each other through the waves of the web. We will feed each other, re-destribute [sic] wealth, strike. We will understand our own importance from the places we must stay. Communion moves beyond walls. We can still be together,” it concluded.
As 22-year-old makeup mogul Kylie Jenner faces increasing pressure to donate to the coronavirus relief effort – thus far, she’s delivered a message from the U.S. Surgeon General and asked for movie recommendations – Britney has been offering help. A recent video saw the singer take on the #DoYourPart challenge after 28-year-old sister Jamie Lynn tagged her – “DM me,” Britney said, offering food and diapers to those needing extra support.
Britney has 23.7 million Instagram followers. For more from her, give her account a follow.
Note, since the publishing of this article, Kylie Jenner has announced a $1 million donation to coronavirus first responders to provide masks and face shields.
