Former Bachelor lead Colton Underwood has written a new book called The First Time, which comes out on March 31. The title is a nod to people referring to him as the 'virgin Bachelor.'

In a recent interview with People magazine, he talks about watching Peter Weber's recent season of The Bachelor and how this brought back flashbacks and insecurity for him.

He claims, “I had a little bit of PTSD. It brought up a lot of emotions.”

Before Peter Weber started filming his season of The Bachelor, Colton gave him some advice in an interview with Cosmopolitan magazine.

He's referring to the fact that his current girlfriend Cassie Randolph left the show before the finale because she wasn't ready to get engaged. Colton went after her, and the two are still together today, though they still haven't taken that step.

He claims, “There are a lot of stories and experiences that will help people understand the choices I’ve made. And I’m done hiding who I really am.”

He talks about the bullying he endured while in school, and how it affected him. During the interview, he said, “I was called fatso, four eyes and four lips, because I used to lick my lips, so I would constantly have a red ring around them. I was a little heavy, and that, combined with being socially awkward, led to a really hard time. I didn’t believe in myself. And I was super insecure.”

He claims a rumor went around school that he was gay because he abstained from sex due to his faith. He says, “It was one of those things where you hear something so often, you start believing it,” he says. “I thought, maybe I am gay. The captain of the football team should be having sex and drinking, right? But I wasn’t.”

He explains that he even searched "Am I gay?" on the internet because of the rumors and not really understanding who he was.

He explains to People, “And I come from an athletic family, so it was always, ‘Move on, you’re good.’ So that threw me off. In high school, when I was struggling with my sexuality, I’m not going to talk to my parents about it. So I internalized it.”

He says he continued to deal with rumors about his sexuality even when he got older and filming started for his season of The Bachelor. He says, “Even while my season was airing, I battled the gay [rumors]. They’d say, ‘he’s gay, he’s hiding it.’ No. But I’ve been there, done that now.”

Colton is currently in isolation at his girlfriend Cassie Randolph's parents house after testing positive for the coronavirus, and she is currently taking care of him.
