The View co-host, Meghan McCain, just announced that she was pregnant and expecting a baby with her husband Ben Domenech.

However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, McCain decided to play it safe and not show up to the set of the talk show. She initially mentioned that she would make appearances from her home but hasn’t appeared at all this week.

Last Tuesday Whoopi Goldberg mentioned that McCain would make a comeback “sometime this week” but there was no confirmed date.

However, the View ‘must go on’ and the remaining hosts are doing what they can to carry on with the show. With McCain making minimal appearances, Goldberg has been checking in from her home, and Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines have been present in the studio. Joy Behar returned on Monday’s show, but then didn’t show up the day after.

On Monday, the fellow co-hosts on The View congratulated McCain regarding the pregnancy, but there was no mention on when she would return.

Over the weekend, McCain confirmed that she was pregnant and surprised all of her followers and fans of the show. She went on to mention that she and her family were excited to announce the news, but wished it was under different circumstances.

“My husband Ben and I have been blessed to find out I’m pregnant,” McCain announced. “Although this isn’t how I expected to announce my pregnancy, both we and our families are excited to share the news with you all.”

McCain spoke with her doctor who advised her to stay home during the pandemic.

“I consulted with my doctors and they advised me that for the safety of our baby and myself, I should be extra vigilant about limiting the amount of people we come in contact with,” she added. “Starting immediately, I’ll be joining the millions of Americans who are self-isolating as a precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19. As a result, I will be appearing on The View from home via satellite.”

McCain also thanked ABC for allowing her to work from home while she is pregnant.

“I’m fortunate that my employer, ABC, has allowed me and my co-hosts to work remotely,” McCain continued. “I am indebted to our producers and crew. I also want to acknowledge the heroes — the doctors, nurses, grocery and pharmacy workers, journalists, police officers, firemen, and military — who are on the front lines of this fight. Please stay safe. Wash your hands and avoid public gatherings and I will continue to see you each morning on The View.”
