Meghan Markle and Prince Harry officially abdicate the use of the title “royal” on the 31st of March, and fans are wondering if with it Meghan will lose her use of the royal jewels.
Meghan’s time in the royal family has been fraught with controversy, culminating with a decision earlier in the year for Meghan, Harry and their baby, Archie, moving away from the royal family and their duties with it. The couple has opted to spend their time in North America, closer to Meghan’s home.
According to The Express UK’s interview with James Constantinou, founder of Prestige Pawnbrokers, Markle’s jewelry wearing has always been very mindful.
“Meghan Markle is known for wearing jewellery (sic) with strong messages and meaning,” Constantinou said.
According to the interview, the Duchess of Sussex has worn jewelry revealing the birth of Prince Archie early in her pregnancy, and also gave an early indication of her relationship with Harry by wearing a necklace with an H initial when the pair were still only rumored to be dating.
“Meghan wore the platinum Queen Mary diamond bandeau tiara on her wedding day and has worn several pieces of Princess Diana’s jewellery,” Constantinou said. “Meghan’s engagement ring has two diamonds once owned by the late Princess which now form part of Meghan’s engagement ring.
“If the occasion is right, Meghan may opt to wear something from the Royal Collection again with The Queen’s approval.”
The question on everyone’s minds now, however, is whether or not the queen will give her approval.
“The Queen has never leant Meghan jewellery, besides on her wedding day, and has never loaned jewellery to anyone who is not a senior member of the Royal Family,” The Express reported.
The question is complicated by the fact that Meghan and Harry completed their final official royal appearance just weeks ago. Official reports by those close to the Royal Family insisted that Queen Elizabeth is still on good terms with her grandson and wife along with her great-grandson Archie.
“[Meghan, Harry and their son Archie are] much-loved members of the family,” a friend of the couple told People magazine in an issue published earlier in the week.
“That stuff runs deep,” continued the royal insider cited by People Magazine. “There is an element of working things through.”
However, the same outlet was told that Meghan and Harry were “hurt” by the way in which the crown negotiated with them regarding their royal duties.
“ … the family has really tried to make this as collaborative and kind and as loving as possible as they start this new trajectory.”
