Eva Marcille, who won the third cycle of “America’s Next Top Model” for being chill while a tarantula crawled across her cheek – one of the most memorable moments of the season – is hoping that the upcoming reunion on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” will give her a chance to patch up her relationship with Porsha Williams.
The two beauties bonded during season 11 of “RHOA,” when Marcille joined the show and married husband Michael Sterling Sr., in an elaborate wedding that featured three separate dresses for the occasion.
Tyra Banks, who hosted “America’s Next Top Model” for 23 cycles – Rita Ora stood in for one season – was excited to see what Eva would bring to “RHOA,” she said on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” when she was a guest. “I’m insanely obsessed. I am so proud of her. I mean, from Cycle 3 of ‘America’s Next Top Model,’ she has held her own and is doing her thing … So to see her with you, oh my God. I know what she can do what y’all have not seen. So you guys are very much going to enjoy her.”
Cynthia Bailey was Marcille’s first target, when both attended a launch party for Kandi Burruss’s cover of Essence magazine, Marcille attending as a guest of NeNe Leakes. Marcille recognized Bailey’s date for the night, Will Jones, and told Leakes that she’d seen Jones out with a girlfriend who was not Bailey.
The troubles continued with the start of season 12, when Kenya Moore threw a party to celebrate the birth of her daughter, Brooklyn, and a pregnant Marcille chose not to bring her two older children.
Williams was quick to tell Moore that Marcille was hoping to protect her kids from any issues that might arise at the Barbie-themed event.
Eva apparently didn’t appreciate her opinion being shared so quickly.
“Porsha just had a baby and I tiptoed around her whole little feelings. If you want me to go off…Porsha had enough … going on in her life and she can converse about that,” Marcille said, making comments that Williams later interpreted to be about her fiance, Dennis McKinley, cheating on her while she was pregnant with their child, Pilar Jhena. “She still got her c-section healing and she over here worried about somebody else’s baby.”
Williams was appalled, as she considered Marcille to be a genuine friend.
“I could not believe you said it is because you are the main one out of all of these girls who say to me, ‘Girl I got you, I will never let anyone say something about your personal life,'” Williams told Marcille. “For me to hear that, as a friend, it hurt.”
Marcille hopes to ease existing tensions with Williams at the reunion.
“Her and I are definitely not in the place that I’d want us to be,” Marcille told Bravo’s Daily Dish Podcast. “I think she’s a great person, we’ve definitely bumped heads as of late and have not really hashed it out. The reunion will genuinely be the first time we get a chance…I mean she has my phone number, so she can definitely call but beyond that, I think it’ll be the first time we hash it out.”
