Popular American broadcaster Wendy Williams is renowned for her syndicated daytime show “The Wendy Williams Show.” For years she has thrilled her fans with her quintessential view on modern-day pop culture via a segment on the show tagged “Hot Topics.”
The show first aired in 2008 and is now a mainstay on national television – while her face has remained the iconic brand fans associate with the platform. However, things changed just as the talk show was getting ready to premier the 13th season.
Recently, social media was shocked when news that the reality star was battling health concerns surfaced. As a result, the debut date for the new season had to be changed severally with hopes that Williams would return and anchor her brainchild.

For a while, Williams battled the effects of the coronavirus and complications from Graves’ disease. The ailments wreaked havoc on her system, and at some point, the reality star struggled to hold on to life.
Through this trying period, fans were not kept abreast of Wendy’s situation and had no choice but to panic when studio execs kicked off the new season without her. Recently, Williams has come out to quell their concerns with her recent update on her Instagram account.

“HOW YOU DOIN? I MISS YOU ALL! As everyone knows, my health has been a hot topic,” she said like her show.
“I’m making progress, but it’s just one of those things that are taking longer than we expected,” she added. “I’m a woman of a certain age, and I know enough to listen to my doctors and will return to my purple chair as soon as we all agree I’m ready.”
Fans of the reality star were happy to hear from her and took to her comment section to wish her a speedy recovery.
Williams Appreciation Message
While sending out her update, the reality star also expressed her gratitude to those holding the fort for her.
“I want to thank all of my staff and our guest hosts for stepping up and stepping in while I can’t be there,” the statement partly read. “I also want to thank Debmar -Mercury and our stations for being so understanding and supportive while I work my way back.”
Williams also captioned the post with a special appreciation to fans for their love and prayers. She wrote, “Most of all, I want to thank my fans. I have heard your prayers and feel all the love! You are everything to me. I love spending my mornings with you all, and I’m doing everything I can to get back to work.”
Currently, she has not disclosed her return date as her focus is on getting completely healthy.

After Williams sent in her post, fans expressed how much they missed her and extended more good wishes to her.
“Miss u Wendy! take your time in healing your health is important,” a fan commented. “Get well soon Wendy I miss you on TV, but your health comes first,” another follower added.

Some fans also commented that the show felt different without her in the purple chair, taking them through the “Hot Topics.”

Who Is Standing In For Williams?
Since the debut of season 13, several guest stars have come on the show to stand in for Williams.
The likes of “The King of Queens” star Leah Remini, American multi-hyphenate Michelle Visage, and just recently, former “The View” co-host Sherri Shepherd have all played a part in anchoring the show.
Although there is no permanent host pending Williams’s return, fans seem to have picked a favorite from the previous bevy of guest hosts. Just as comedian Michael Rapaport was confirmed to be the next guest host, social media received an outpour of comments from fans who wanted Shepherd back.

“I’m not excited to have him be the host. Sherri did an amazing job. She brought that Wendy energy we miss!” one follower said.
