November 12 marks a week, since the tragic events that occurred, at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival, in his hometown of Houston. Nine people have since died from injuries sustained, as Travis has been the subject of much criticism, and accountability.
Family members of the injured and deceased fans have been speaking out, and one of them is a father of a 9-year-old boy, named Ezra Blount. The two had planned for this event months ago, due to him being a huge Travis fan. What was supposed to be an epic event, turned into a nightmare, for his family.
Father Of Ezra Is Hopeful Of His Son Making Recovery
Ezra ended up sustaining a brain injury, along with other organ damage. Currently, he is in a medically induced coma. Now, his father, Treston Blount, is opening up about this horrific situation, and is hoping that this changes, so that he and his son can have amazing memories together again.
Treston spoke to ABC 13 in Houston, and explained how excited Ezra was, about seeing one of his favorite artists. They purchased Astroworld tickets back in May, when they were first available. When the two arrived at NRG Park, they stayed near the back of the crowd, due to knowing how wild that Travis’ concerts can get
“He was stoked. He was ready to go. When I found out that he was a big fan [of Travis Scott], I was like, “Oh yeah, we gotta go, we gotta go. We was in the back, way in the back, and I figured, ‘Okay, this is cool,’ ’cause the front can get a little wild.”
9YO Ezra Blount remains on life support today. I sat down with his father last night for a tough conversation. He explains why he brought his young child to #AstroWorld – a festival that NO ONE SHOULD HAVE DIED AT. Story: pic.twitter.com/IjhAYzVKnN

Treston Blount Passed Out With Ezra On His Shoulders
Despite being as far back from the crowd of 50,000 as possible, Treston and Ezra still unfortunaly got sucked into the middle of the chaos. Ezra was sitting on top of Treston’s shoulders, and that’s when he passed out and fell, due to the pressure of the crowd. That resulted in Ezra getting trampled on severely, as Treston would not end up seeing his son, until he was hospitalized. For Treston, he already knew how severe the situation was, for his son.
“I could tell that he was damaged,” Treston said. “I’m not ready to lose my boy at all. We still got a bunch of living to do … That’s my boy.”

Ezra’s Family Has Filed A Lawsuit
Like many other families, Ezra’s family already has a lawsuit out, against Travis Scott and Live Nation. The lawsuit cites “grossly negligent conduct.” It also described how Ezra was “kicked, stepped on, and trampled, and nearly crushed to death.”
“To his young, growing body, these injuries will have life-long effects, impairing his quality of life and ability to grow and thrive as he would have had he not been subjected to this incident,” stated the lawsuit.
Over 30 lawsuits have been filed, in total, by loved ones who attended, Astroworld Festival. Travis has since stated that he intends to cover the costs of the funerals, of all nine victims, who lost their lives.
