Amid all of the changes the nation is undergoing to slow the spread of coronavirus, a lot of celebs are remaining optimistic as they spread their messages of encouragement to their fans about social distancing and the importance of self-quarantining as necessary preventative measures.

On the other side of that conversation is Serena Williams who is admitting that coronavirus has been a struggle for her and she's having a difficult time adjusting to the new version of life we're all living.

Like many of us who are experiencing uncertainty during this trying time, Williams has seen coronavirus impact her life and has had it wreak havoc on her mental health. In a very transparent moment on TikTok, Williams posted on Friday, March 20 that the stress has had an adverse effect on her, and even caused her to lash out at her toddler, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.

"I wanted to take a minute and talk about my experience with corona[virus]," she told her audience.

Williams claims she went through a cycle of feeling untouchable, then unbothered and looking at the cancellation of things and the shutdown of the world as a respite and life telling her that it was time to slow down a little.

"It started out with me feeling like, ‘Oh it can’t really affect me,’ and then suddenly Indian Wells was cancelled and I was like, ‘Oh, OK, that’s weird but I have a little time off and I’m going to enjoy that time off.’"

However, time off started to feel suffocating to the superstar athlete who is used to pushing her body and working. Seeing all the cancellations began to feel like more than a sign to rest and enjoy time off. Instead, she felt like the walls were caving in and experienced anxiety as a result.

"And then one cancellation led to another and then led to another and led to all this anxiety that I’m feeling," she explained to the TikTok community.

"Now I’ve been social distancing for actually a really long time, for probably like two weeks now, and every little thing makes me crazy," she continued. "And by anxiety I mean I’m just on edge. Any time anyone sneezes around me or coughs I get crazy. I don’t hang out with anyone, so when I say anyone I mean my daughter."

The coronavirus struggle is real for Williams and her subsequent anxiety has been a point of concern for her because it's made her isolate herself from people who mean the most to her, her family.

Williams explained her panic surrounding her daughter Alexis. Because of her anxiety, she is turning into a version of herself she doesn't want her daughter to see. "She coughed, I got angry and gave her a side-eye. I gave her that ‘angry Serena’ and then I got sad. I was like, ‘Is she OK? Is there something wrong with my daughter? Is there anything I can do?’ I just don’t know what to do, so instead of being relaxed I’m really under a ton of stress."

This moment of honesty from Williams comes on the heels of her announcing her plans to enter solitude for six weeks due to coronavirus concerns.
