It’s official: We can’t get enough of Joshua Jackson’s low-key romance with Jodie Turner-Smith. The couple’s relationship blossomed out of nowhere and we’re desperately trying to catch up.
Jackson, best known for his role in Dawson’s Creek, dated actress Diane Kruger for 10 years before they split up sometime in 2017. According to Kruger, the break-up was “a long time coming.”
“Also we broke up many months before we said we were broken up, so by the time I made that decision, it didn’t feel like it was so urgent anymore. You don’t break up overnight after ten years, you know what I mean?,” she said during an interview with Vulture.
And even though the couple dated for a decade, Diane said she felt “liberated” after their split.
Joshua and Jodie were first linked in October 2018. However, neither commented on their rumored romance. But they were constantly seen together looking very much like a couple.
Jodie even shared a romantic picture of the two with the caption: “Two people who only fancy each other a little bit.”
In August 2019, the couple reportedly picked up a marriage license. And in November 2019, they were spotted wearing rings on their wedding fingers. Which prompted even more speculation that the couple had officially said: “I do.”
And while neither confirmed their marriage, they didn’t deny it either.
“‘I haven’t said to anybody, ‘Yeah, we got married’, People are assuming whatever they want, but when people tell me ‘Congratulations,’ I say ‘Thank you,’” she said during an interview with the Sunday Times.
In December 2019, Us Weekly reported that Jodie and Joshua were planning on getting married and expecting their first child.
And while most fans were happy, Jodie did receive some backlash. She admitted, “There was this wave of people who were upset that I was possibly married to a white man.”
But even with the criticism, the couple has continued on with their relationship.
To celebrate Valentine’s Day, Turner-Smith took to social media to pay tribute to Joshua.
She wrote, “Our 2nd valentine’s day and it’s even more magical than the first! here’s to a lifetime of them. happy valentine’s day to the man who sees my soul and holds my heart, love you, baby daddy.”
The post featured a quote by Pablo Neruda, as well as photos of the two in matching ivory outfits. In one picture, you can clearly see Joshua wearing a wedding ring.
And while the couple has yet to confirm whether they’re married or not, it looks like they are. Yay!
Recently, the two have been social distancing together. On St. Patrick’s Day, Jackson shared a picture of him and Jodie watching his new Hulu show, “Little Fires Everywhere.”
Jackson posted a photo on his Instagram about the show with the caption:
“I hope this show can give a little emotional and mental relief for everyone out there as we grapple with the anxiety of all the unknowns right now. Remember, no matter how tense your house is right now, it’s still better than dinner w/ the Richardson’s!!”
