It’s been a week now, since the tragic incidents that unfolded, at Travis Scott‘s annual Astroworld Festival. Nine people have since been confirmed to have died from their injuries, at the Houston-based event.
Lawsuits continue to pile on against Travis, as he is still cooperating with local authorities, and is trying to connect with the families of the victims. On Friday, his attorney, made a public appearance, to discuss how Travis found out about what happened, at his own festival.
Travis’ Attorney Discusses Astroworld Fest on ‘Good Morning America’
Attorney Edwin F. McPherson appeared on “Good Morning America,” and explained the way Travis found out about the deaths, and how the information started to sink in for him, regarding the severity of the situations at hand. He also shut down the misconception that Travis still performed, while supposedly knowing about attendees dying, in the crowd.
McPherson says that there was “obviously was a systemic breakdown that we need to get to the bottom of before we start pointing fingers at anyone.” He also pointed blame to police, for not quickly taking action, and acting as if nothing had transpired.
“In fact, we’ve seen footage of police half an hour later just walking about and not looking like it was a mass casualty event. But clearly, the important thing is that never got to Travis, that never got to Travis’ crew. He’s up there trying to perform; he does not have any ability to know what’s going on down below, certainly on a mass level.”

Travis Didn’t Know How Serious The Situation Was, Until Next Morning
For Travis, it appeared that he didn’t know that lives were lost that night, in Houston. Attorney McPherson added that it wasn’t until the next day, that Travis finally realized the severity, of the festival’s results. He also emphasized that Travis was so into his performance to close out day one of the festivals, that he didn’t see what was happening, in various places of the crowd, of 50,000 people.
“Travis didn’t really understand the full effect of everything until the next morning. Truly he did not know what was going on. Understand that when he’s up on the stage and he has flashpots going off around him and he has an ear monitor that has music blasting through it and his own voice, he can’t hear anything, he can’t see anything.”

Travis Was Also Notified Of Deaths At Dave & Buster’s Afterparty
Travis also attended a Dave & Buster’s afterparty, hosted by Drake. The night looked like it was a success, but after Travis was notified about what had unfolded, it was reported that he quickly left the event. He would later go on to put out a statement, expressing how saddened he was about November 5’s events, as well as putting out a video statement, to his Instagram feed.
