Even celebrities are finding it hard to be stuck at home while nearly everything has been shut down due to the coronavirus outbreak. Ellen DeGeneres is one of those who are not exactly thriving in self-quarantine. DeGeneres lives in California where nearly 40 million people have been urged to stay home as much as possible as the number of coronavirus cases in the state continues to rise. The 62-year-old talk show host has been posting videos of herself on Instagram calling celebrities while she sits at home.

In one clip, Degeneres calls her famous friends John Legend and Chrissy Teigen who tell her that they’re just at home hanging out with their kids. "So you have kids. I wish I had kids right now, I'm so bored," confesses DeGeneres. “Say hi to Portia,” Legend and Teigen say as they hang up the phone. DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi have been married since 2008 but do not have any "kids" and, as Ellen has said, do not intend to.

Ellen's been dedicated to herself and her fans entertained during the quarantine. Her daily talk-variety show is one of the highest viewed on television, so the absence is being felt. She has uploaded videos of her failed card tricks (and then getting a professional magician David Blaine to show her how it's done). DeGeneres also posted another video on Twitter of her calling Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine to wish him a happy birthday. Even though Levine spent his birthday in self-quarantine with his family, he sounded relatively happy.

DeGeneres also took on a 4,000 piece puzzle on Instagram and documented her progress, or rather lack of it and decided to move on to something else. One comment read “this is my favorite series right now.” Ellen is certainly entertaining her fans as best as she can while confined to her home and trying to make people laugh during times when they need it the most. She isn’t the only celebrity trying to make fans smile or be entertained during this boring time.

John Legend and ChrissyTeigen recently posted an Instagram Live to give fans a concert since most people are confined to their homes while they are social distancing or self-quarantining. Legend sang for an hour as Teigen accompanied him and drank wine. Legend said the performance is “to help lift your spirits”. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin also took to Instagram Live a few times to give his fans at-home concerts. The comments on the Live session were all extremely positive.
