Many celebrity couples make the world sigh in admiration (and a bit of envy.) It's already hard enough to find your other half in a normal person, much less as a celebrity known worldwide. So, it's understandable how much fans love Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness, and at the same time, are jealous of them.
The "X-Men" star and his beautiful wife married about 25 years ago and are still together, proving wrong the common notion that celebrity marriages never last.
Both have claimed several times publicly that their connection was instant and has never waned through the years they have been married.
One story about their relationship that many fans particularly love is the story of how Furness was given the direction she needed to find and fall in love with her husband. It's an odd but very sweet story, and for fans who haven't heard it, here is a recap and more information on the cute couple.
An Introduction To Deborra-Lee-Furness
Furness is an actress with a considerable amount of movies and shows under her belt. After graduating from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, she launched her acting career with roles in stage plays.
She also reportedly acted alongside Billy Moses in the role of his Australian bride in the show "Falcon Crest."
She became very popular for her role in "Shame," a 1988 Australian film that was a huge success in theaters. She then won the Best Actor awards from Golden Space Needle and Film Critics Choice of Australia.
She has also appeared in several films and shows, including "Hyde & Seek," "Beautiful," "Jindabyne," "Blessed," and many more. For her performances, she has won Silver Seashell awards and FCCA awards.
Furness Met A Fortune Teller
After the success of "Shame," Furness left Australia for Los Angeles with the hope of establishing and strengthening her career in the heart of Hollywood. However, after months of auditions, she grew tired of building an acting career, the process, and the business side. Her frustrations eventually led her to visit a fortune teller hoping that she would get the direction and clarity she needed.
In her interview with the Aussies in Hollywood podcast, she spoke about the experience saying, "I literally saw a fortune teller in LA. And I met with this woman. She said, 'You have to go to Australia." The fortune-teller reportedly explained to Furness that everything would fall into place back home in Australia and that she had to go back.
So she followed the woman's advice and returned home. She said, "I just thought, 'you know what? What have I got to lose?" And it was the best decision she made because when she did move back to Australia, everything fell into place, and not long after, she met her future husband, Jackman, on the shooting set for the series called "Corelli."
They Have Been Married For 25 Years
Furness and Jackman recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. The actor shared a post on his Instagram to commemorate the day and put up throwback pictures of their wedding held at St. John's in Victoria, Melbourne.

The post was accompanied by a sweet caption that read, "Being married to you, Deb, is as natural as breathing. From nearly the moment we met ... I knew our destiny was to be together. In our 25 years- our love has only grown deeper. The fun, excitement and adventure more exhilarating; the learning even greater. I'm forever grateful to share our love, our life- and, our family together. We've only just begun. Deb, I love you with all my heart!"
Furness and Jackman are very happy together, as fans can see from their social media pages and interviews. They also have two children, Oscar, adopted in 2000, and Ava, adopted in 2005.
Furness Didn't Want Jackman To Be In 'X-Men'
The X-men movie franchise was a huge point in Jackman's career. His performance as the character Wolverine in the movies, put him in the spotlight of Hollywood and the world.
He acted as Wolverine for 17 years, which set the record for the longest time an actor has taken on the character of a superhero.
However, in a twist that his fans would have never expected, Jackman almost didn't take the role, which would have been because of Furness. She was against the character and film and explained why in an interview with ABC TV & view.
She said, "We read the script and it was like, these claws come out, and I'm like, 'What is this? He's at the national theater doing Oklahoma, y'know?" She also explained that her apprehension was because they were neither familiar with X-Men nor with the Marvel Universe.
