The Surgery Complications That Took Donda West's Life, Kanye West's Mother

Losing your parent can be a difficult point in one's life. An individual that nurtured, loved and help shape you into the individual you become. Kanye West had lost this person, his mother over 10 years ago. In 2017, Donda West had passed away due to complications she experienced undergoing surgery. Kanye, his wife Kim Kardashian, and their children continue to mourn the loss of his mother who had also been managing his career as an artist. Understandably, Kanye remains impacted by the passing of his mother. He had started a charity to honor his mother named Donda’s House.

Their Bond

The mother and son shared a close relationship with one another. Aside of being a loving mother Donda West was also a major part of her son's career as his manager, quite the fitting job for someone who believes in them and only wants the best for them. Prior to managing her award-winning son, Donda was a English Professor at Chicago University, which she had retired from in order to be a part of her sons rising career. She had documented her life as Kanye's mother in a book that was released a few months after her death in 2007 title Raising Kanye: Life Lessons from the Mother of a Hip-Hop Superstar

A Present Parent

Throughout his career Kanye opened up about the relationship he shared with his mother. With the accomplishments that he was achieving early in his career, his mother was obviously proud of her son. he shared special moments with his mom by bringing her to award shows or other events. It must have been such an amazing feeling for the both of them during this time to experience the growing of his career. The two remained by each other's side since the artist was 3 years old when Donda's husband had left them.

Her Surgery

In November of 2007 Donda West had went into a hospital to receive a breast reduction, liposuction and a tummy tuck. Dr. Andre Aboolian had spoken to Donda about the surgeries she was hoping to get. While she was a fitting candidate for the procedures she was still required to get medical clearance, something that is usually required for someone who is over 40 years of age. Reports that were obtained by People had stated that after the 5 1/2 hour surgery Donda had decided to recover at home rather than a facility that was suggested to her. She was bandaged and given Vicodin for the pain. However, she was taken to Centinela Freeman Regional Medical Center when the mother had stopped breathing at her home.

The Operating Surgeon

Dr. Jan Adams was the surgeon who had operated on Kanye West's mother, he eventually spoke out about the tragic life-taking incident that caused many eyes to look down on him. He had spoke to Daily News in 2015 stating that people had assumed that Donda had passed away during surgery not after it was completed. Adams was viewed critical from Kanye and practically anyone else who heard about the passing even with the coroner stating that there was no issues from surgery. The autopsy report suggested that vomiting from the medication could have caused the mother to pass. More presently Kanye has sought in various ways to heal the wounds of losing his mother, music being one. West had made an album with Dr. Adams photo as the cover but the doctor had sent a cease and desist. In the open letter he sent to Kanye, Adams stated that he had respected his mothers privacy and dealt with the backlash that was falsely displayed by the media. Kanye had responded through his twitter thanking Adams for reaching out with hopes for the two to have a sit down in order for the artist to heal.
