Chrissy Teigen seems uninterested in slowing her criticism of First Lady Melania Trump. In 2019, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend were targeted by President Donald Trump after Legend unveiled a new program, #FreeAmerica, a campaign to end mass incarceration in the United States. "What's true of drug criminalization is, unfortunately, true of our criminal justice system in general," Legend said in an interview with People magazine. "It takes people whom we have failed since birth – subjecting them to substandard food, poor living conditions, failing schools, unsafe communities – and then tries to 'correct' them through inhumane, over-punitive treatment."

Shortly afterward, Trump went on a Twitter tirade. Despite being recognized by NBC anchor Lester Holt for signing the First Step Act, a move to help reduce reincarceration rates, into law, Trump tweeted, "now that it is passed, people that had virtually nothing to do with it are taking the praise. Guys like boring … musician @johnlegend, and his filthy-mouthed wife, are talking now about how great it is — but I didn’t see them around when we needed help getting it passed.”After the President's tweets had slowed, Legend and Twitter called on First Lady Melania Trump

"Imagine being president of a whole country and spending your Sunday night hate-watching MSNBC hoping somebody — ANYBODY — will praise you," Legend said on Twitter. "Melania, please praise this man. He needs you." Melania Trump is known for her Be Best campaign, which began as an anti-bullying effort to help children avoid "negative social media interaction," but has since evolved to include the nation's opioid epidemic and overall well-being for kids in the U.S. Given the President's proclivity for using Twitter as a platform for negativity, Melania Trump's efforts were met with a bit of scorn from the beginning.

WhileTeigan is vocal about political issues, she mostly focuses on the two children she shares with Legend - Luna and Miles - but Melania Trump's supervised build of a tennis pavilion on the White House grounds during the coronavirus crisis forced Teigan - and other celebs - to go vocal. "Has Melania even thought about doing something with her be best s--- during these times?" Teigen began in an expletive-laced Twitter thread earlier this week. "I see regular a-- awesome people on my timeline all day doing all they can to make people happy and this wifebot is working on whatever the f--- a tennis gazebo is."

"She could maybe possibly try to uhhh BE BETTER possibly the best be the best the best be best," Teigan continued. "ALL I have seen this bot do is gently touch Christmas ornaments in a cape and stare in a cape and pat statues in a different cape and then change her cape into a rude ass jacket." For her part, the First Lady - who had been criticized earlier this month by many before Teigan, responded, "I encourage everyone who chooses to be negative & question my work at the @WhiteHouse to take time and contribute something good & productive in their own communities. #BeBest."
