The super busy, normally-found-jet-setting Hailee Steinfeld has been eerily low key as of late. Even before the global Covid-19 outbreak, the 23-year-old Oscar nominee made us a little nervous with her seeming radio silence – needless to say, we were so thankful when she calmed our fears last week by sharing a photo of her and her new pup (welcome to the Steinfam bb) followed by a few additional updates of the little fur-ball running amuck in her home. However, Hailee’s March 16th Q&A session via Instagram Story took on a more somber tone – specifically, when she asked how she was “holding up with the Coronavirus” situation.
“It’s a very strange time for the world, isn’t it?” Steinfeld addressed her almost-13 million followers. “I am absolutely okay and I hope you all are too. Please take this seriously and take care of yourselves and do what you can to take care of those around you.” Her statement comes as a reinforcement of similar, previous outcries from the likes of Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and Ariana Grande.
“I know social distancing and being in isolation/quarantine can feel scary, but we can still stay connected with each other.”
“Spend time with your loved ones, listen to your favorite artists, watch your favorite movies and TV shows, read or reread your fave books. I love you.”
On a lighter note: Another fan asked the Dickinson star why she chose to name her dog ~~Quarantini~~ Martini, to which Hailee provided a rather whimsical reasoning.
“In film terms, Martini means the final shot before wrapping the set for the day. She was the last lil baby I saw after a few months of looking. Plus, she’s teenie.”
And of course, Haiz-a-holics bombarded her inbox wanting information about new music. The “Let Me Go” singer said she was “always” making new music and that “new songs” are on they way “very soon.”
A few things to point out here is that most major record companies are halting the release of any new material. For example, Madison Beer recently tweeted that her debut album Life Support‘s March 27th drop date has been postponed indefinitely. Fans were confused by this, logically asking what a digital release has to do with anything, but the first thing that comes to mind for us is the supporting promotional tour – none of which is possible without being able to visit radio stations or make television appearances.
We hate to bring this up, but Hailee is known amongst her following for her overuse of the word soon – it got so bad at one point that she was deemed the moniker of “Hailee Soonfeld.” At least she owns up to it!
Just a few days before delivering a moving performance of her latest single “Wrong Direction” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last month, ~~Soonfeld~~ Steinfeld was overseas presenting at the BRIT Awards and attending Love Magazine’s London Fashion Week Party. She also made a stop by Sesame Street while in New York for Colbert. As much as we’re “starving” (?) for new bops, we’re so glad our fearless leader is taking a travel break and enjoying some time at home with her newest addition.
