After Rudy Gobert, the Utah Jazz center player tested positive for coronavirus, the NBA decided to call off the season at least for the next 30 days. The decision was reached just a few minutes to the tip-off of the Utah Jazz game, and caught several basketball stars by surprise, including Cleveland Cavaliers star and Khloe Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson.

According to a statement released by the NBA, it will use the break to determine the way forward amid the global pandemic.

Tristan Thompson is seemingly the most surprised to an extent he is short of words. His response to the news was simple. ‘This is crazy,’ he wrote.

Prior reports had indicated that games would continue but without fans in the arena, although the sudden halt in the games will probably give no room for such measures.

The decision by the NBA to stop the games may not have been expected, especially just a few minutes to the tip-off of a game. Basketball stars have expressed their concerns, although some fans decided to ease the tension by dropping some jokes about the Cavaliers.

One of them claimed that the NBA was just trying to prevent the likes of Andre Drummond from dominating. Tristan is also allegedly set to become a free agent at the end of 2020, and the Cavaliers fans do not seem ready to let go.

Going by what NBA’s Twitter account reveals, they only halted the games, and their decision does not bring the season to an end. Their current plan is to delay the season by at least 30 days hoping that the coronavirus outbreak will not be a concern by the end of this period.

They hope to resume when everyone associated with the league is safe. However, the outcome of events in the coming weeks will determine how well the plan works out and could even see more alterations happen.
