Salma Hayek‘s thoughts today were with everyone facing up to the reality of COVID-19. The novel coronavirus that’s now reached over 3,000 confirmed cases in the U.S. has seen European flights to the United States canceled – most recently, both New York City and Los Angeles have been forced to close their bars and restaurants.
Salma took to Instagram today to honor both the individuals doing their “best” to stay indoors, plus those who are proving the worst-affected by the virus – deaths are solidly showing the elderly to be at the most risk.
Salma’s photo showed her back in the day. The “Frida” actress had been photographed cozied up on an outdoor balcony and resting her chin against its white walls – the 53-year-old was seated on a white wicker chair and showing (but not overly flaunting) her killer legs in a skimpy tan dress with a sleeveless finish. Salma’s long dark hair was looking sleek, but the snap wasn’t about the Mexican’s beauty.
A message accompanying the image spoke to the millions around the world currently facing a change in lifestyle. It also mentioned the less-healthy.
“I know most of us are doing our best to stay inside and distance ourselves, but at least we are going through this together and thinking of the people who are most vulnerable,” Salma captioned her photo.
The snap and its powerful message racked up over 45,000 likes in under 30 minutes. Fans quickly took to the comments section with messages.
“Amen,” one fan wrote.
“Awww,” another said.
One user appeared to still be hurting over the news that the NBA is canceled.
“This is literally me waiting for sport to start back up again,” they wrote.
The celebrity faces confirming they’ve tested positive for coronavirus have been racking up. Last week brought the news from 63-year-old actor Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson – the two are in hospital and in isolation in Australia.
Three NBA players are now confirmed: Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz are now joined by Detroit Pistons player Christian Wood. Just today, “Bond” girl best known for 2008 movie “Quantum of Solace,” Olga Kurylenko confirmed that she has tested positive. Idris Elba has also just announced that he has the virus.
Serena Williams has already confirmed that she’ll be spending the next six weeks in solitude as she self isolates. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift has been encouraging fans to stay home, with fellow singer Miley Cyrus attempting to tackle mass panic buying.
“Be thoughtful. Respectful. Compassionate. HUMAN. while preparing for social distancing…. NO ONE needs every soup in the store,” Miley wrote, adding:
“The more we hoard the more expensive and sparse necessities will become, leaving many without essentials. This is a great time to practice restraint… it’s incredibly difficult to make smart decisions while panicking , but think twice before following the fear and being inconsiderate. There is enough to go around if we take care of one another. This is a beautiful time to LEAD!” she added.
