No matter how hard they try, Lala Kent and Randall Emmett struggle to get fans on board with their relationship. Maybe it’s their age difference or how they met. Either way, the couple has been met with controversy.
But even with outside opinions, they’re still going strong. In fact, they’re expected to tie the knot on April 18th in Newport Beach, California.
(Which will hopefully be filmed and air on Vanderpump Rules.)
In the meantime, let’s take a look inside the couple’s relationship and how exactly they fell in love:
Lala, 30, met Randall, 48, at SUR. Kent was a part of the Vanderpump Rules cast and met Emmett while filming the first season of the show.
“He came in for a Christmas dinner and sent his assistant up to me and asked me if he could get my manager’s contact info because he wanted me in a film. And so then we started that whole process, I booked the film and then we just had this instant connection. It was my first season of [Vanderpump Rules]. I think only like, three episodes had aired of Season 4,” Kent told Cosmopolitan.
Randall was actually married when he first met Kent. His wife at the time, Ambyr Childers, is an actress best known for starring in You.
The couple married in 2009 and share two children together. Emmett filed for separation in 2015 but then dismissed the petition shortly after. He started dating Lala in 2016. A year later, Childers filed for divorce.
Lala and Ambyr didn’t have a good relationship in the beginning but have since been on good terms. Childers might even be at the wedding!
Lala’s dad died unexpectedly in 2018. During which, Emmett was a great support system. A few months after her dad’s death, Randall proposed and Lala said yes.
“There’s like, that saying where you marry people that are like your dad. And I never thought that that was true until I totally found someone who is just like my dad, which I am so grateful for because my dad treated my mom like she was queen of all queens,” Kent said about her soon to be husband.
At the time, the couple had been together for over three years.
“I let him hit it [the] first night, Lala shared during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. And it was that night, Lala knew they were meant to be.
She continued, “Honestly, I knew I was going to be with him forever when we had first done the deed and I got into the bath and I was broken out at that time, I had the worst weave in the world, and I get out of the tub fresh-faced and he was like, ‘You’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen.”
