James Kennedy may be nine months sober but his former girlfriend and Vanderpump Rules co-star, Kristen Doute, isn’t convinced he’s any different now than he was during their short-lived relationship several years ago.
During an appearance on Heather McDonald’s Juicy Scoop podcast, Doute opened up about her thoughts on Kennedy and his relationship with girlfriend Raquel Leviss, who he recently applauded as his “rock.”
“I mean, I’m terrified for her,” Doute told the comedian, according to a March 13 report from Reality Blurb.
According to Doute, the way Kennedy has spoken to Leviss on Vanderpump Rules is extremely concerning for her, especially considering her own experiences with the DJ.
“The way that he talks to her, it’s full PTSD for me,” Doute shared.
Doute then suspected that Kennedy’s treatment of Leviss outside of the show is likely far worse than what viewers have seen.
“If he’s doing that to her on camera, I can’t imagine what it’s like behind closed doors. I feel bad for her,” she said.
While Kennedy and Leviss have been dating for the past four years, Doute doesn’t believe that they are truly in love. Instead, she claimed the couple is likely sticking together for “notoriety” and to remain on the Vanderpump Rules cast.
“[I] don’t think they’re in love, I think they use each other for notoriety and for the show and to put on this front. I’ve always felt that way, I still feel that way. But I do feel bad for her,” Doute shared.
“They do live together, I mean in real life. They live together, they have a dog together, they’ve been dating for a few years,” Doute revealed.
After McDonald mentioned the possibility of Kennedy learning from the mistakes he’s made in the past by watching old episodes of Vanderpump Rules, Doute said her former boyfriend would never be that self-aware.
“He would never [learn from his past],” Doute said. “He’s too selfish for that.”
Doute and Kennedy dated during the third season of Vanderpump Rules.
After enduring months of back and forth with her former boyfriend Brian Carter during the eighth season of Vanderpump Rules, which was filmed in Los Angeles last summer, Doute confirmed that the two of them are no longer dating in an emotional Instagram post shared with her fans and followers in September.
To see more of Doute and her co-stars, including Kennedy and Leviss, don’t miss new episodes of Vanderpump Rules season eight on Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
