Aaron Rodgers has been fined by the NFL following his COVID-19 diagnosis!
Per TMZ, the famed quarterback was asked to pay a fine amounting to $14,650 for breaking COVID protocols and attending a Halloween party despite being unvaccinated.
Rodgers’ colleague Allen Lazard was also given a similar fine for attending the same Halloween festivity. Both players were unvaccinated and didn’t adhere to the league’s rule to avoid large gatherings outside team facilities.
While the fines imposed on the players are nothing short of meager, the Green Bay Packers suffered the brunt of their carelessness and actions.
The team was given a fine of $300,000 by the NFL for not imposing safety protocols on Rodgers and Lazard and allowing them to access team facilities without wearing nose masks and other coverings.
The Packers’ CEO Mark Murphy commented on the penalty given to the team in a statement to the Washington Post. He said:
We respect the League’s findings and we recognize the importance of adherence to the COVID protocols to keep our team and organization safe and healthy. We will continue to educate the team regarding the importance of the protocols and remain committed to operating within the protocols.
As we reported last Wednesday, Rodgers tested positive for COVID-19 and later revealed that he was unvaccinated but was “immunized,” resulting in a massive backlash from the public.
Aaron Rodgers Feels Crucified For Anti-Vax Stance
Rodgers’ revelation about being unvaccinated and his stance on the COVID-19 vaccine wasn’t well-received by many. The athlete was even roasted by late-night show host Jimmy Kimmel and “SNL” comedian Pete Davidson.
The 37-year-old football player reportedly didn’t appreciate the negative attention received and was upset with how the media treated him for his anti-vax stance.
As The Blast previously covered, Rodgers believes he was being “crucified” for having a different opinion from the majority. A source close to the athlete revealed, “He knew some people would disagree with him, but he didn’t know that it would become the s—storm it became.”
The California native was particularly sad that many of his teammates and NFL colleagues weren’t on his side.
His GF Shailene Woodley Defended Him
Although the world was supposedly against Rodgers, he had one person who was undoubtedly in his corner ― his girlfriend, Shailene Woodley.
The “Divergent” actress, who is fully vaccinated, was reportedly unbothered by the ruckus and was understanding of her future husband’s unique approach to seeing other health alternatives apart from the vaccine.
She then came to her man’s defense, describing the media’s stance on the issue as “grasping.” She even responded to a tabloid’s photo of a man believed to be Rodgers stepping out of quarantine.
Woodley shut down the reports, claiming that wasn’t the quarterback as he had bigger feet than the pictured man.
