Travis Scott has been going through a career disaster over the last four days, as eight people died, at his Astroworld Festival, on November 5. Travis reportedly didn’t know about the horrific incidents that were occurring, during his performance, at his annual festival in his hometown of Houston.
Lawsuits are piling on for Travis, as he’s quickly gone from one of the most popular artists out, to one of the most controversial. Critics point to how he encourages “rage culture” at his concerts, and how he may have cited the behavior of the attendees, at Astroworld Festival.
Travis Was Reportedly At Dave & Buster’s When He Found Out About Deaths
Several of the Astroworld injuries and deaths included minors, which includes a 9-year-old boy being in a medically induced coma, and on life support. According to a report by TMZ, Travis was at a local Dave & Buster’s for an afterparty, when he was notified about the severity of what had happened at his festival.
Travis reportedly didn’t know about the chaos in the Astroworld Fest crowd, which included deaths happening, in the middle of his performance, to close the night out. Sources close to the outlet also stated how police supposedly didn’t even reveal what was happening, in those moments.
“Travis didn’t know the severity of the situation when he arrived at the party, as far as timing, this remains consistent with the fact that no one including the police had publicly confirmed the gravity of the events that had taken place.”
Travis has since offered to pay for the funerals of the deceased. Free mental health services will also be offered, to those affected by these events.
Drake Hosted The Dave & Buster’s Afterparty
As to who hosted this Dave & Buster’s afterparty, it was Drake, who performed with Travis, that night. Like Travis, Drake went on to release a statement of his own, where he offered prayers and condolences to all those affected, and is looking to help anyone, in any way he can.
“My heart is broken for the families and friends of those who lost their lives and for anyone who is suffering. I will continue to pray for all of them, and will be of service in any way I can. May God be with you all.”
Drake is also said to have been unaware of what was happening in the crowd, as well. When Travis was told of what happened, he reportedly left the afterparty.
This comes as Travis, Live Nation, and Drake were named in a lawsuit, by Kristian Paredes. The three are being sued for negligence, and cited previous incidents, at Travis’ concerts, and the wild behavior that is encouraged, there. Paredes also blamed the lack of effort by security, in attendance. Currently, she is seeking at least $1 million, in damages.
