Jordyn Woods is getting slammed – for the second time today. The 22-year-old model and former best friend to Kylie Jenner already made headlines as fans predicted she’d get heat for wearing Muslim dress during her visit to Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque – the SECNDNTURE founder’s selfie with sister Jodie and mom Elizabeth didn’t take long to be followed by stunning photos of Jordyn at the venue, plus a video.
The video is really where the heat turned up as fans taking to the comments section spotted something in Jordyn’s caption.
Jordyn’s trio selfie was just the intro. The model’s main post seemed to be the batch of photos she shared of herself amid the mosque’s stunning minaret architecture – stark whites adorning the pristine place of worship contrasted the all-black wardrobe donned by Jordyn as she switched up her usually-sexy wardrobe for a conservative abaya. Woods wore a headscarf as is commonplace in Muslim countries – rules are more relaxed in the United Arab Emirates, but Jordyn seemed to be out to respect the environment she was in.
Jordyn then posted a video. The slow-motion footage showed the Frst Place founder in a lobby and modeling her Abaya to music – Jordyn looking seductively into the camera may well have fans feeling the video was slightly sexualized, but the comments section was more focused on the caption – also what appeared to be a headscarf that hadn’t previously covered Jordyn’s hair correctly.
A caption explained more.
“for those of you that don’t know in order to enter the Mosque you must wear an Abaya. It was such an amazing experience getting to see the beauty of another culture. The view from my hotel though, is everything ? @jumeirahsaadiyat,” Jordyn wrote.
Comments came in quickly.
“It’s a religion not culture!” was one of the most-liked comments.
“She said “culture” LMFAO,” another user wrote.
“Islam isn’t a culture” was yet another comment.
Jordyn did reply to one such remark.
“Culture is the ideas, customs, and social behavior of a particular people or society. I’m in the UAE so I’m learning about the culture,” she replied.
Over 1,500 users liked her response.
Elsewhere, Woods was told that her headscarf had shown far too much hair – “Ok but isn’t the whole point to cover ur hair,” one fan wrote.
“Understood,” Woods replied.
Amid the backlash, however, there was positivity, with the most-popular comment seeing a fan defend Jordyn.
“For some of yall to be so “religious” you’re certainly showing how truly hateful you are. The girl was trying to show respect. Instead of teaching her yall choose to be rude and nasty in her comments. I think that shows a lot about your character instead of hers,” they wrote.
Jordyn was in Dubai shortly before traveling to Abu Dhabi. Her arrival caused a stir by sparking dating rumors with married French rapper Dadju – fans may well agree that the video of Jordyn simply smiling and appearing filmed by Dadju wasn’t quite him “romancing” her.
