Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are nearly finished with their time as senior members of the royal family. They are set to officially step down at the end of this month and hope to become financially independent as time goes on.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have moved to Canada with their son Archie Harrison, but they recently returned to the United Kingdom to celebrate Commonwealth Day with the royal family. Reports now indicate it was Kate Middleton who kept things running smoothly.

Royal experts said they were upset with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex because they had been asked by the queen to bring baby Archie along with them when the returned to the UK but did not.

Archie was instead left at home in Canada, which seemed to anger some royal commentators who thought it was rude and that there was no excuse for such behavior. Some pointed out the queen's advanced age, stating that she wouldn't have much time left to spend with her great-grandson.

Meghan and Harry were also said to be hurt in the middle of their big exit from royalty, too. Sources claimed the Sussexes were upset that they were forbidden to use the word "royal" and that they no longer have the option of using their "His and Her Royal Highness" titles. The claim is that other defected royals have still maintained these privileges.

Though they are still technically senior royals until April 1, the Sussexes were reportedly left out of the royal procession during Commonwealth Day celebrations. Sources said they were quite hurt by this turn of events.

Reports say Duchess Kate did her best to keep things amicable despite tensions running high. Though she and husband Prince William were scheduled to march in the queen's procession, they reportedly decided to drop out and sit alongside Harry and Meghan, instead.

Sources also said Duchess Kate went out of her way to acknowledge and greet the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as they settled into their seats at the Commonwealth Day celebration event. Sources previously said Kate was planning to ease tensions before Harry and Meghan arrived.

Stepping It Up

Shortly after Harry and Meghan announced their shocking exit, all eyes reportedly turned to the Duchess of Cambridge. Kate was said to be expected to step it up and take on more job duties to make up for the Sussexes' absence.

According to inside sources, that is exactly what she did. They say Duchess Kate has become the backbone of this new royal family and that she is feeling more confident in her new role after initially suffering bouts of anxiety and insomnia due to the pressures of the job.
