Malala Yousafzai, often referred to solely as Malala, is the world’s youngest Nobel Prize laureate and second Pakistani to hold the coveted title.
Although she is only 24-years-old, Malala is a globally recognized activist for female education. From her 2013 book to 2018’s “Love Is Tolerance,” Malala has won many awards for her activism and her bravery.

Malala’s story is proof that even the smallest person can stand up to make big changes in the world.
When the Taliban took control of her region of Swat in 2008, it shut down all of the schools for girls. This led Malala to start blogging for the BBC when she was only 11-years-old, so the world knew firsthand what it was like to live under Taliban control.
Although she wrote under a pseudonym, the Taliban eventually found her and shot her in the head while she was riding on a school bus. She was flown to the United Kingdom to undergo surgery and miraculously survived.
In 2013, she published the book titled “I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up For Education and Was Shot by the Taliban,” which instantly became a best seller. After she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014, Malala was named as one of the Most Influential Teams of 2014 and made it to TIME’s 100 Most Influential People listing.
