According to Emily Ratajkowski herself, she's very cognizant of the fact that her beauty has opened doors for her that otherwise would've remained closed. These days, although she still portrays the look of the confident model on social media and on the catwalk Ratajkowski is a bit ashamed of her profession and overall upbringing. At least that's what she's claiming in her new book which is titled "My Body". The book features a collection of essays written by Emily Ratajkowski herself. It contains shocking revelations, like the time that she was allegedly groped on the set of "Blurred Lines". Also, it features essays on empowerment and body shaming. Essentially Ratajkowski poured out all of her childhood trauma in the book. Perhaps most shocking of all is the way she paints her mom in the book. They've certainly had their differences over the years.
Emily Ratajkowski Describes Her Existence As Glue For Her Parent's Relationship
We forgot to mention love & relationships as another theme that Ratajkowski covers in the book. It's clear from the start, at least for her that her relationship with her mom is not going to be an easy one. As she mentioned that she felt from an early age that she was the "glue" that held her parent's marriage together. From what she writes it can be implied that she felt her mom got pregnant to tie down her dad. Emily writes,
"I knew that my parents had been on again, off again for years before my mother became pregnant with me and they decided to get married," this is where she delivers the glue line saying, "I understood that even before I was born my existence was the essential glue of their relationship."
Ratajkowski Thinks Her Mom Is Maybe Too Proud of Her Beauty
From what we are able to gather the model isn't exactly super happy about the fact that her beauty has taken her places. Saying that she feels real empowerment has really come her way through these essays and not necessarily through what she's done in her career. In continuing to air out some of her mom issues, she mentions in the book that it really bothers her essentially how proud her own mother is of her beauty. Especially since her mom sees Emily's beauty as a reflection of herself. This is how Ratajkowsi puts it,
"My mother seems to hold the way my beauty is affirmed by the world like a mirror, reflecting back to her a measure of her own worth," She then goes on to tell a story to justify what she's saying writing,
"A friend of mine from college wrote on Facebook that he'd seen your recent magazine cover, he said, 'No surprise Kathleen's daughter is beautiful! But she's not as gorgeous as you, Kathy. No one compares to you.' "
The Mom Did Do Things To Make Her Villain In This Story
It's clear that Emily Ratajkowski and her mother don't have the best relationship in the world. It must be tough for the mom to read that her daughter is essentially hanging out their dirty laundry to dry for everyone to see. The thing is, Emily might be doing this as a measure of revenge! She recalls that during her high school years her mother would keep a sexy picture of Emily in the kitchen counter to boast to guests about. No wonder Emily grew up with insecurities even though she is extremely gorgeous. If you want to read more stories that happened in the Ratajkowski household make sure to pick up "My Body".
