According to a new lawsuit, filed by famed attorney Ben Crump, Ezra Blount was the youngest victim of the ‘Astroworld’ concert tragedy and the horrific injuries might cost the little guy his life. In the filing, the lawyer says Ezra was nearly “trampled to death” during the concert and was “suddenly forced to watch in terror as several concertgoers were injured and killed” after the crowd surged forward.
At this moment, the 9-year-old remains in a medically induced coma and is on life support.
9-Year-Old ‘Astroworld’ Victim Is Clinging To Life In A Hosptial
As for his injuries, according to the family, Blount is suffering severe damage to his liver, kidney, and brain. The family believes the injuries will impair his quality of life and “ability to grow and thrive.”
In the lawsuit, Crump says the young boy was “kicked, stepped on, and trampled” while watching the concert. At the same time, people around him were lifting up “unconscious bodies of friends and strangers and surfed them over the top of the crowd, hoping to send them to safety.” In the filing, it describes the brutal scene including many people shouting for “help with CPR and pleading” with Travis and concert staff to stop the show to help victims.
As we reported, the rapper is getting blasted online for not stopping the concert when the initial push began, claiming he was aware of what was going on with an ambulance in the crowd — but, chose to continue performing. Travis addressed the issue and said he had no idea how horrible things were going in the crowd while he performed.
Victim’s Lawyers Blame Travis Scott, Live Nation For Unruly Situation
The lawsuit blames Travis Scott, and Live Nation, saying they “egregiously failed in their duty to protect the health, safety and lives” of people attending the show. Plus, the lawyers point out the concert didn’t have enough security in place to implement proper crowd control measures, and enough emergency medical support.
In the hours leading up to the tragedy, videos of the crowd breaking down the fences and entrance gate flooded social media, showing the crowd becoming unruly way before the deadly surge began.
Houston Police Department’s Chief claimed to have spoken to Travis Scott in the hours before his performance, voicing his concern over the situation, and asking the rapper to keep in mind the issues that might arise during the festival.
Travis Scott Is Facing Several Lawsuits In Wake Of The ‘Astroworld’ Tragedy
This isn’t the first lawsuit filed by victims of the tragic event, several other cases have been filed against the rapper and Live Nation. Also, several named Drake as a defendant, simply because he was performing with Scott on stage. Drake broke his silence on the situation, saying, ‘I’ve spent the past few days trying to wrap my mind around this devastating tragedy. I hate resorting to this platform to express an emotion as delicate as grief but this is where I find myself.
He continued, “My heart is broken for the families and friends of those who lost their lives and for anyone who is suffering. I will continue to pray for all of them and will be of service in any way I can. May God be with you all.”
The cases are ongoing.
