Kaley Cuoco is known for playing the role of Penny on 'The Big Bang Theory', the 'dumb blonde' who struggles to cope with the intellectual acumen present within the other characters on the show. According to Cuoco, though, people believe that she's actually that person in real life.

Well, now that the hit show has finally come to an end after twelve seasons, the actress is branching out in a new role for the dramatic series, The Flight Attendant. Speaking with People Magazine, Cuoco shared her thoughts on the upcoming role, as well as, what she does to get ready for the early filming every morning.

The Flight Attendant, which is a series based on the 2018 novel by Chris Bojalian, follows the life of a flight attendant who after having a wild night, wakes up to a dead passenger next to her.

It's definitely a stark divergence from her role on The Big Bang Theory as Penny, but the actress claims she's up to the task.

"I wanted to try something different, especially more of a dramatic role, which I don’t think anyone thinks I can do, and I know that I can, so I’m really excited about that," she shared.

Not only is the role vastly different than what she's been accustomed to over the last decade, but so is the amount of work that is required and when that work is done.

Cuoco shared that while she was on 'The Big Bang Theory', she'd film the episode and then return home. According to the actress, she was essentially on autopilot.

"It’s been a whole new experience experiencing a show not just as an actor," she said, referring to her new role in The Flight Attendant as an actress and executive producer.

"I feel like I used to kind of put my head in the sand and do my work and go home, and that’s not the case anymore. It’s like I go home and the work just begins and we’re like putting the show together and editing all this stuff."

Cuoco wasn't asked to be on the HBO Max series randomly. The actress had been working for three years to get the project off the ground, and now that it's in the works, she's blown away by the progress the show has made, especially as it pertains to the production and set.

"I walk on the set every day, I cannot believe it, I really can’t," Cuoco admitted to the outlet. "A lot of people were curious what I was going to do after Big Bang. So there will be a lot of good and bad with it, but I’m super proud of it and I think it’s going to be really entertaining."

The filming period each day for the new series takes place a lot earlier than Cuoco is used to, requiring her to wake up at 4 or 5 a.m. The actress confessed that she's not the biggest morning person and needs a little bit of help to get going. That boost comes in the form of coffee.

"I’ve never had to have such early calls, this is new," she explained. "So being up so early it really does help me. It’s just part of the … I’ve never forgotten to have my coffee. It’s like brushing my teeth. It’s all part of it. I feel adjusted with the coffee."
