Conditions on the set of the movie, “Rust,” have been proven to be outrageously horrible. We’re not just talking about the lack of safety procedures regarding guns. As if that didn’t make things on set unsafe enough there were apparently venomous spiders crawling around the set. One of them caught an unfortunate crew member. Now, he’s in the hospital unsure of whether he’s going to literally lose his arm due to the spider bite. The unfortunate crew member’s name is Jason Miller. His family has started a GoFundMe page to help the lamp operator with medical bills. According to the page Miller has already had to go through multiple surgeries to try and save his arm. The road ahead is long and unclear!
The Rust Cast Member Has Had A Tough Road Already
According to the GoFundMe page that was started by Jason Miller’s family things got exponentially bad extremely quickly. With Miller experiencing necrosis in his arm only days after the initial bite. Also, according to the page Miller has undergone several surgeries at this point. The page was created 4 days ago, and at the time of writing for this article there has been no update on Miller’s condition. The family mentions,
“Jason was working as part of the wrap team on the production ‘Rust’ at Bonanza Creek when he was bitten by a brown recluse spider. In a matter of days he experienced severe symptoms including necrosis of his arm and sepsis.”
No One From “Rust” Has Spoken Out About This Incident
The legal team and producers of the movie Rust understandably have their hands full at this point. Dealing with the shooting and unfortunate death of Halyna Hutchins at the hands of Alec Baldwin. It’s a shame though that they haven’t at least confirmed whether Jason Miller was working on the set of the movie or not. A lot of opportunistic folks have taken advantage of these GoFundMe pages to run all sorts of scams. We’re not saying that’s the case here. However, having some clarity on whom this person is could certainly even help his own cause. With more people feeling comfortable to step up and make their donations. Knowing wholeheartedly that they are going to a good cause.
The GoFundMe Page Has Reached Its Initial Goal
In the midst of all of this bad news there’s at least one positive thing to report. That is the fact that the GoFundMe page for Jason Miller has reached the initial set goal of 5,000 dollars. When this article was written the amount of money in the fund more than doubled the initial goal with over 10,000 dollars in donations collected. In the page the family also mentioned that they will not only use the money for the pending medical bills. They are also asking for donations to help Jason Miller in the event that he actually does lose his arm. At this point the family is asking for donations to help Miller adjust to what could become his new life. It’s likely that he won’t find himself back on a film set any time soon!
