Despite a highly-publicized divorce from Nick Lachey, fashion designer and singer Jessica Simpson has opened up in regards to having no regrets about filming 'Newlyweds' with her ex, which managed to run for a whole three seasons before their split.

As reported by People, Simpson revealed her thoughts behind working with her ex on such a large project to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show 'On Air!' The show, which ran until their divorce, was timely back then according to Simpson, but times do change.

We were newlyweds," Simpson said to Seacrest during their candid interview session, "It was our first time even living together. I was a virgin."

Simpson went on to reveal that her father was actually the one to suggest that her and her new husband begin a reality show together, given them being at the heights of their stardom.

"I really want people to understand you and know that you're human," the performer recalled her father saying to her at the time in an attempt to convince her to do the show.

Simpson was only 22 years old when the show launched, and despite only lasting for four years (as did her marriage) she actively credits that time as being pivotal in the grand scheme of her career.

[The show is] what launched my brand," she said candidly to Seacrest on the radio show, "Absolutely I would go back and do it all over again. It's never something I wouldn't do again, I just, you know, maybe wouldn't have done a third season."

In another interview with Today, SImpson explained just how bad tensions had gotten between her and Lachey directly prior to their split and the show's cancellation.

"I would watch episodes bac,k and I didn't like what I saw,'' she explained during the interview, adding, "I saw what people were laughing at and what was loving about it, but I also saw a lot of eye-rolling and that wasn't just editing," elaborating on how the tensions became almost apparent even in the show's filmed content.

"We were young and pioneering our way through reality television, always mic'd and always on,” the singer detailed in her personal memoir titled 'Open Book,' explaining that, “We worked and we were great at it but when it came time to being alone, we weren’t great at it anymore," attributing their time apart as a substantial contributor to their eventual split.

Currently, Simpson is married to Eric Johnson, a former professional football player and they have three children together. Lachey is married to Vanessa Minnillo, a television personality.
