Ed Sheeran and Adele are undoubtedly some of the biggest names out of the United Kingdom. They have both dominated the music scene worldwide and amassed immense success.
In fact, the powerhouses released new albums in the same month of November. However, despite their striking similarities in their careers, Adele and Sheeran have never collaborated on a piece of music.
While fans remain heartbroken about them not having a song together, Sheeran recently shed light on their lack of collaboration, and his reasons seem somewhat valid.
Ed Sheeran On Why He Has No Collab With Adele
The "Shape Of You" crooner, during a recent appearance on WKTU’s “Carolina with Greg T in the Morning Show” to promote his album, addressed the issue, saying a partnership hasn't happened between the duo because Adele "doesn’t really collab with anyone."
Clearing the air about what he meant by Adele not collaborating with people, Sheeran said, "Her thing is so good that like you don’t want to mess with that."
And while the pair don't have any music together, they come from way back. During the interview, Sheeran revealed that he had known Adele since way back, even before becoming the legend she is now. He recalled:
I’ve actually known her [Adele] for about 15 years. She used to tour with a guy named Jack Peñate. My cousin was the housemate of Jack’s drummer and she used to open up [for them] when she was younger.
He mentioned he used to watch her perform at "tiny, tiny, shows." Then, when they eventually became successful with their careers, Sheeran, who rose to prominence 3 years after Adele, recalled running into her.
He mentioned it was heartwarming to have someone in the game he had known for quite a while. As for his current relationship with the "Hello" crooner, Sheeran admitted he wasn't super close to Adele.
However, he disclosed that they had quite a lot in common and described Adele as "lovely."
Adele Not Bothered About Sheeran's Album
Sheeran's revelation about Adele comes after the Tottenham native commented on the former's album.
Following the release of her hit single "Easy On Me" in October, Adele was informed during an interview that her album release date was daringly close to that of Sheeran's.
When asked by the host of the radio show if she was aware of the close timing of their projects, Adele asked to know if it was going to happen on the same date, to which the host responded, "Well, not on the 19th, no, don’t panic."
Upon hearing that, Adele snickered and said, "I ain’t panicking, he can panic." Then, after a good laugh, Adele expressed her love for Sheeran and his wife, Cherry Seaborn.
