Selena Gomez was able to dish about reflection and growth, with the American Idol first lady herself, during her appearance on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show'. With her most recent album release 'Rare', she admits that she was torn by some hurtful criticism. "I know people may not think I'm the greatest singer, but I just work my ass off," she said.

To that, big sis Kelly Clarkson dropped some gold. "From a singer to a singer, it's beautiful what you do. And I love your record . . . I love singing your music. It means something and it moves people. So don't ever negate your gift — because it's powerful", Kelly told the fellow pop star.

This type of support and camaraderie is amazing to see, especially from Clarkson who made her fame as a singer when she won American Idol Season 1 at the age of 20. Surely, Gomez who also made fame at a young age will take this to heart.

The 27-year-old star, who made her fame on Disney’s ‘The Wizards of Waverly Place’ at 16 had a lot to say to Clarkson about how much she evolved and the two were able to get in a few laughs as well.

One laugh originated from Selena’s story of her first kiss which happened on screen of all places. She admits before her fame, she was just a kid in Texas watching Disney.

In the anecdote, Gomez reveals that she goes back to her childhood home in Texas every year and this year, in particular, was the first time she was able to enter the home. Before her time with Disney, she had developed a crush on Cole Sprouse while watching ‘The Suite Life of Zack and Cody’ in her childhood room.

“I had written in the closets that I was in love with Cole Sprouse,” Gomez said. “Cole Sprouse was on Suite Life of Zack and Cody. I was obsessed with that show and I thought we were going to be together one day.”

Unfortunately, for Selena, when she guest-starred on the show in 2006 she was scripted to kiss his twin brother Dylan instead. “It was my first kiss. It was one of the worst days of my life,” she goes on to say.

In the spirit of brotherhood, Cole Sprouse has taken this opportunity to troll his brother for the story after the quote was shared on the Teen Vogue Instagram.

The comment, “@dylansprouse I can safely say I’ve never had a girl say this about me.”

To be fair, Dylan had also mentioned the kiss in a previous interview with Young Hollywood back in 2018. “There’s a lot of sad, depressing first kiss stories,” he said. “I was a chubby lad and I wasn’t successful with women for a long time. I think my first kiss was on a set. And I think it might have been with Selena Gomez."
