There is nothing more nostalgic than watching a film from our childhood and thinking about all of the good memories attached to the movie. And when it comes to conjuring up the beauty of adolescence nobody does that better than Disney, and they know this. Why else would they have decided to take their entire catalog of films and television shows and create their own streaming service called Disney+. However, so far the reviews have been somewhat rocky for the newest platform in the streaming game.
Almost a month after its launch Forbes wrote in its review;
Disney Plus has lots of great content, from Star Wars to Marvel to Pixar to classic Disney animated films and much more, including The Simpsons. Content-wise, there’s a lot to love about Disney Plus. There’s a lot to love especially if you have kids…But the service itself? It leaves far too much to be desired. I can’t count the times that it simply froze up watching The Mandalorian. The screen would freeze but the sound would continue. Pausing and rewinding sometimes worked. Sometimes you’d have to back out of the show entirely and go back in for it to start streaming again.
Since Disney+ is still new of course they have a few technical difficulties they need to work out. However that won’t stop them from continuously creating content. And one of the most anticipated movies they have coming down the pipeline is an updated live action version of the classic 1998 film Mulan. With a proposed release date of March 27th the film is certain to draw in old fans and create some new ones. Yet one of the best things about the new version is that soulful singer Christina Aguilera will be returning to lend her powerful vocals to the movie’s soundtrack.
Of course many will remember that Aguilera sang the hit song ‘Reflection‘ on the original soundtrack, a song that quickly catapulted her star into the stratosphere. Now Rolling Stone reports that Aguilera will not only be singing an updated version of ‘Reflection’ but she will also be singing a brand new track titled ‘Loyal Brave True’
“The film Mulan and the song ‘Reflection’ coincided with getting me my first record deal,” Aguilera said in a statement. “It’s amazing to come back to such an incredible movie that’s full of power and meaning, and that meaning holds the test of time: staying true to yourself, being who you are, and teaching how to be fearless
My new song, ‘Loyal Brave True,’ represents the fine balance between vulnerability and strength.”
Fans are eagerly anticipating the release of the film, with many taking to Twitter to gush about how excited they are to see the once animated movie come to life, similar to last year’s live action reboot of the classic Disney film The Lion King. And though some are a little skeptical about having their favorite movie given a live action update only time will tell how well the film does.
