Jamie Dornan played Christian Grey in the "Fifty Shades" series. The actor said he was "relieved" when he didn't get the lead role initially.

Dornan was not the first actor to get the job; Charlie Hunnam was originally selected as Anastasia Steele's partner, played by Dakota Johnson.

According to Screen Rant, Hunnam allegedly opted out of the project due to his commitments to the hit TV drama Sons of Anarchy.

Dornan, a relative newcomer to acting known at the time for being a model for Calvin Klein was cast in the role of Christian Grey, which he struggled to understand.

Dornan was the ideal choice, because of his previous modeling experience. Jamie has played Christian in all three series of the franchise.

Dornan revealed he felt a certain degree of relief when he wasn’t cast for the lead role in Fifty Shades.

Dornan also discussed how the franchise has influenced his life and completely changed his life financially. He also emphasized that everyone involved worked hard on the project.

Even though the Fifty Shades films were massive box office hits, they were critically trashed. But Dornan revealed he had no regrets about embracing the role.

Dornan continued to succeed in television shows like "The Fall" and "Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar." He is rumored to feature in Kenneth Branagh's new movie, "Belfast."
