Kaia Gerber has been knocking the competition out the water of late. The 18-year-old model and daughter to Cindy Crawford killed it on the Versace runway recently, also upping the ante in a cleavage-flaunting latex getup as she shared photos of herself at YSL.
Catwalk looks don’t last, but magazine shoots do. Kaia took to her stories this weekend to share another photo from her i-D magazine profile – the edgy and grunge-effect images have already made headlines as Kaia admitted she was channeling 1999 movie “Girl, Interrupted.”
Kaia’s stories pointed fans towards i-D magazine’s editor in chief, Alastair McKimm – he’s posted a string of photos of Kaia from her shoot. While one showed the brunette seated and snacking in leather pants, another showed her rocking the fabrics up top.
Kaia was seen gazing into the distance as she modeled a large, stud-adorned, and black leather jacket worn both open and shirtless. The cleavage-flashing was there, but the finish was classy as Kaia posed wearing a chunky necklace, plus pale makeup with darkened eye features. She wore her brown bob a little spiked-up. The gritty shoot also included background furnishings and a studio lamp.
Kaia has made headlines this year for stating that she doesn’t like the “model” label – she models, but she doesn’t want to be called a model. Regardless, her i-D feature saw her asked if she could recall when she wanted to enter the industry.
“I never did. As a child I never thought I looked like my mom, I never really imagined it was something I could do. My mom never pushed it on me. Then, as I started to get older, people began approaching me to start modelling and I was very sceptical. It’s hard enough growing up, as a woman, with all those changes you go through as a teenager… to do that in the public eye is really scary. You need to be really confident,” she said.
Kaia has always been famous by virtue of celeb mom Cindy Crawford, but her feature saw her state unease with being in the public eye.
“I never wanted to be famous. The idea of fame always freaked me out,” she said, then speaking about photographers who might snap her as she exited the interview:
“It does affect me, it can be really tough. But to just get used to that? I think that’s really sad. You shouldn’t have to get used to it – it’s not a normal way to live your life,” Gerber added.
Kaia dated SNL comedian Pete Davidson between October 2019 and mid-January of this year. The 26-year-old ex to Ariana Grande has since opened up about the breakup,
“We were dating for a few months, and she’s very young,” he said, also adding:
“I’m f—ing going through a lot, and it was before I was going to rehab. She shouldn’t have to worry about some dude that just has issues, she should be enjoying her work and all that other s–t,” he said as he stated that it wasn’t “the right time.”
