The new "NCIS: Hawai'i" lead star, Vanessa Lachey, recently disclosed that she hurt herself while filming the first episode of the series. She admitted that she had to wake up early, learn her lines, and sometimes get involved in very physical scenes.
She informed the outlet of the time she had to sprint very fast, injuring herself in the process.
"I did my Tom Cruise run, and then I pulled my knee, my groin, both my calves and, somehow, my arm," says Lachey. "And it was three seconds in the pilot."

Lachey isn't the only one who's experienced accidents on set. Michael Weatherly, who was on the set of "NCIS: Los Angeles," also narrated a tale about how he injured his finger.
"Kensi and Deeks were having a scene in the front seat," explained Weatherly. "Now, as an actor, a polite actor, I had to get out of the car during the scene and close the door. And you don't want to close it on someone's line. So, I was trying to do it, and I put my thumb right into the door."
He admitted that he remained quiet because he didn't want to ruin the scene. "I couldn't make any sound, and I had the last line of the scene," said Weatherly. "So, I walk up to the window, I say my line, and I walk away. They say, 'cut,' and I go to the boom guy, and I go, 'Turn off the sound.' And I went, 'Aaaah!'
Backstory
In the upcoming CBS series, Lachey plays the role of a Special Agent. After she rewrote history by bagging the lead role, Lachey spoke to ET about her husband's unwavering support while they headed to the location set.
"It was a talk that I had with my husband and I said, 'What do you think?' and... he's like, 'Hawaii, umm, it could be worse.' And he was like, 'This is awesome!'" Vanessa recalled while on the set of the new show. "And I'll never forget him saying, 'This is your time and you've been there in the past for me.'"
She also revealed to the outlet how excited and honored she was to take on the first female lead in the history of "NCIS" franchise.
"It means a lot," she said, including that "it's something I definitely don't take for granted and something that I will not take lightly. But it's an honor and it's even evolving the NCIS franchise. I got some big shoes to fill with the fellas before me."
Balancing Acting And Kids
Lachey and her husband Nick are parents to three children; Camden, Phoenix, and Brooklyn. She chatted with the outlet about how her kids were adjusting to their new normal and how "kids were more resilient than adults."
The actress had a military man for a father, and because of his instability, she went to eight different schools. Her father, Vincent Minillo, also served in the Air Force, and she was birthed at the 13th Air Force Regional Medical Center located in Los Angeles.
"That was a lot and I wouldn't change anything and how it made me," Lachey disclosed. "But I can imagine how much stress that was on my parents now that I'm in it."
"But for my kids it's great because I think that there's something that you can't teach your children, the whole leading by example verses telling them when they see different kids in different states and different cultures and different economic backgrounds…I just want them to be in a more multicultural lifestyle," the actress concluded.
