Big Sean Seemingly Confirms His & Jhene Aiko's Relationship Status With a Congratulatory Message

By Brooklyn Denton

Big Sean and Jhene Aiko have a love like no other, let Aiko tell it. The "None of Your Concern" vocalist recently let the world know that her relationship with seemingly on-again boyfriend and frequent collaborator rapper Big Sean was none of our concern. However, if there was any haze around whether they were or were not a couple, Big Sean might have made it clear to fans that they are indeed officially back on.

Following the drop of Aiko's highly anticipated third studio album, Big Sean gave a PSA on Instagram that showed fans what's real.

Aiko's third studio project Chilombo was released on Friday, March 6. To commemorate the achievement, Big Sean posted a photo of the album's cover with the caption, "CHILOMBO OUT NOW! congrats my baby you earned this one [Jhene Aiko]." He also spread the love on Aiko's Instagram post by commenting, "I love you, we all so proud! Thank you."

At this point, the pair can keep playing coy with the media if they want to, but the public appearances and the "I love you" exchanges speaks volumes about the status of their relationship.

Late last year, Big Sean put out the hit "Single Again" where he expressed being single following a split with Aiko in late 2018. The song's lyrics included, "I'm single again, told 'em we'll be better off friends," and "Maybe I should just focus on me."

Some time later, the two surprised fans, who believed their breakup would be the end of any further bops like "I Know" or their Twenty88 collab from ever happening again, with a new collaboration on Aiko's hit "None of Your Concern".

At the time, Aiko and Big Sean were very much still living in splitsville, but were incredibly transparent. Aiko had bars like, "I’m not your girl anymore, you need to watch your tone." Big Sean swooped in with the W when he made mention of his ability to make her climax nine times in a row, causing fans everywhere to clutch their invisible pearls.

It's believed the two reconciled a month later when photos surfaced of them having dinner together with Aiko perched on the rapper's lap as they overlooked a beach's scenery.

These days, the pair seem to be basking in the love after glow. Their first try at an official relationship happened in 2016 when Aiko and Big Sean first started dating. Big Sean was just getting out of a long-term relationship with Ariana Grande and Aiko was exiting a marriage with producer Dot da Genius.

In the past, Aiko has freely mentioned her love for Big Sean, referring to him as her soulmate and the love of her life.

"When I met Sean, if you looked in the dictionary for Jhene Aiko, it would be a picture of Sean. Basically, he is my pet, but he knows. That’s why when I was 16, I had a lot of boyfriends that were like, that fit, that look. I was dating people who I wasn’t attracted to right off the top or whatever. So I ended up not having a type, but then when I met Sean, I had a boyfriend and he was showing interest in me, but I was like, I have a boyfriend. But we were friends, it was never, nothing disrespectful ever happened between me and Sean."

In the same interview, she added, "...We worked together as well throughout our relationship. We did songs together and then you know, it just came to a point where it was like, ‘I’m single, you’re single, we love each other.’ We actually already love each other as people and then it was like, ‘Okay, let’s just, you know, be together. So it was different because of that friendship. That comes first, we’re friends before anything. We can bicker like a friendship."

Friendship seems to be the glue that holds them together which is a huge difference for Aiko and her past relationships. She alluded to that being one of the reasons why her and Big Sean work. "If you’re friends, when we’re debating something, it doesn’t turn into some crazy argument because we’re actually friends. Everyone else that I call a friend is literally related to me by blood. So Sean has become my family. I don’t know what the future holds, but as far as my life goes right now, yeah, he’s ‘L-O-M-L.’"

Apparently, Common and Erykah Badu's "Love of My Life" can be a song that Big Sean and Aiko still define each other as. Congrats to the happy couple!
