In the midst of the drama on the current season of The Bachelor and the announcement of the next star of The Bachelorette, Bachelor Nation has all but forgotten the special series that is set to air this summer, The Bachelor: Summer Games. The competition-based series will be similar the The Bachelor: Winter Games, which accompanied 2018's winter Olympics-- that is, if the Summer Games actually happen. Because of the coronavirus outbreak, production on the show is up in the air.

Planning is Still Underway

Just because we don't know for sure if the Summer Games are happening, that does not mean that we can't plan for them. The events, location, and cast are still under consideration. ABC executive Rob Mills has given us some details as to what the show will look like. According to him, the events will be very similar to the actual Olympics: "[I]t's going to be so fun seeing these people in these great, you know, track and field, swimming... this is a real Olympics," he explained.

Casting Will Be Competitive

Mills is also getting excited about casting, and is really gunning for a certain type of contestant for this particular iteration of the Bachelor franchise. When he appeared on the SiriusXM show The Bachelor Recap, he explained to hostesst Julia Cunningham that Bachelor Nation members who were competitive would do well on the show. That's why one of his top picks is Hannah Brown: The former Bachelorette also won Dancing with the Stars, and has a competitive history in beauty pageants.

Is Hannah Brown On Board?

Hannah Brown's relationship with the Bachelor franchise is pretty ambiguous at the moment. She has already been featured on two of their shows, and was reportedly in the running to reprise her role as the Bachelorette. However, she signed on to tour with the Dancing with the Stars cast instead, and doesn't believe the process of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette is for her. Mills did mention, though, that Brown has expressed interest in Summer Games. So, if the Games do happen, we can expect an appearance from The Beast.

Dating Won't Be the Only Focus of the Show

Based on what Mills has said regarding casting, dating will not be the single goal of The Bachelor: Summer Games. Mills has also mentioned that he would like Colton Underwood and Jojo Fletcher, who are still with the winners from their respective seasons, to participate as well. With Underwood and Brown competing, it looks like the focus might skew a little more toward the actual sporting events. If the show's winter counterpart is to be taken as an example, however, romance will play a significant role: Benoît Beauséjour-Savard and Clare Crawley became engaged during The Bachelor: Winter Games. (We all know that didn't work out since Crawley is the new Bachelorette, but still.)
