Ellen DeGeneres has Tried to be a Celebrity Matchmaker

Ellen DeGeneres has always had a bubbly and inquisitive personality that makes it easy for guests on her show to open up. As a result, and because it is something Ellen loves to do, she has tried to create some celebrity pairings. Between her segments of playing "Who Would You Rather" and her asking the right questions, Ellen has had a knack for finding out who celebrities have a crush on. Using that information, Ellen has tried to hook the celebrities up.

Shortly after winning the U.S. Open, the Japanese tennis sensation Naomi Osaka appeared on Ellen. They spent some of the time talking about the drama that surrounded her during the U.S. Open, which included crowds booing Naomi Osaka from the bleachers causing a distraction from her big win. In an attempt to change the topic to something more lighthearted, Ellen DeGeneres asked about if Osaka had a crush on anyone. As it turns out, Osaka had a huge crush on the actor Michael B. Jordan, who has been in Black Panthers and Creed. Ellen offered to text him for her, but Osaka turned down the attempt of a set-up.

Debra Messing & Anyone

In 2019, Debra Messing went on Ellen and started discussing her love life. Messing told Ellen DeGeneres that she has been open to dating, but stated that "no one has asked me out". She then went on to ask Ellen is any good at being a matchmaker. Of course, Ellen had a good response to this, because she loves playing matchmaker! As a result, Messing recruited Ellen to find someone for her with the main rule being that there can't be an age gap of more than 10 years.

Chris Evans and Elizabeth Olsen just happened to appear on Ellen around the same time that rumors had been going around the two might be dating. Of course, Ellen DeGeneres had to talk to the Marvel Cinematic Universe co-stars about this. Ellen playfully teased them about the rumors, but then went out and said maybe the two should actually consider dating. However, Olsen and Evans did not entertain the idea. These days, Olsen is engaged to Robbie Arnett, a musician, while Evans is currently single.

In 2013, Lenny Kravitz appeared on Ellen, and Ellen DeGeneres gushed about her matchmaking attempts for the rocker in the past stating that even though he had a lot of talent and wonderful qualities about himself, she always had to try to fix him up with someone. She went on to admit there was one time that she accidentally tried to hook him up with someone that had a boyfriend at the time (Natalie Portman). However, on this particular day, Carmen Electra happened to be there as well, and Ellen suggested to Kravitz that they could be a perfect fit.
