Even actress Drew Barrymore is a fan of EMSCULPT. She posted on Instagram in a video, with the caption saying, "Verified I’ve partnered with #EMSCULPT as a spokesperson and I’m in 💗! #partner" Barrymore had a condition known as diastasis recti, where the abdominal muscles separate. This happened during both of her pregnancies. The muscles never went back together. She said, "I love exercising, but after two kids I kept getting injured because I just did not have a core. My midsection was like a fish tank and I just kept getting sidelined."

What Is It?

EMSCULPT uses High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy. It targets and stimulates the muscle layer and create involuntary contractions. They equate to about 20,000 crunches. Dr. Paul Jarrod Frank, a cosmetic dermatologist says, "If you’re over the age of 30, you will realize that your exercise tolerance isn’t what it used to be, and even when you do exercise a lot, achieving the same six-pack, lifted bum, triceps or biceps don’t come as easily as when you’re younger." For the treatment to be effective, patients need to have four thirty-minute sessions within two weeks. Dr. Frank says, "It’s very important to stack the treatments to build the tissue."

How Much Does It Cost?

A full round of EMSCULPT sessions costs approximately $3000 - $4000 depending on where you live. While it may sound more like a high-intensity massage on your muscles, it is anything but. Dr. Jennifer Levine a board-certified plastic surgeon says, "It’s not like a massage. You’re not going to say, ‘This is so zen and I love it.’ But, as it contracts the muscle, you will definitely notice something is happening there." So why are people flocking to it? Unlike other procedures, this requires zero downtime, and some people have seen results instantaneously.

Just about anyone who has an extra $3,000 - $4,000 laying around could book an appointment with a doctor that uses EMSCULPT and get the full treatment . Dr. Jared Jagdeo, a board-certified dermatologist says that unlike an exercise regimen, there is little to no soreness after. He said, "Whatever their gym regimen, any person can easily add EMSCULPT into their lifestyle without a lot of soreness. New moms love EMSCULPT. It’s an incredible solution when they are not feeling your best, and while still committed to their fitness routine, need a little boost."

So, what about good-old regular liposuction? Are EMSCULPT and similar procedures going to push those treatments out the window? Dr. Jagdeo thinks that this may be the case. He has said, "It yields phenomenal treatments without downtime or discomfort. People are trying to get away from the traditional, old-school liposuction procedures and more towards totally non-invasive treatments like EMSCULPT." Within 2-4 weeks of treatment, anyone who has undergone an EMSCULPT procedure will begin to see tangible results from their treatment.
