About a year ago, long-time Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek announced on social media that sadly, he had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. It was news that shook many fans, and viewers of the show, especially a diagnosis as scary as this particular sickness. 1 year passed as Trebek stayed relatively silent on social media (as one can imagine), that is until now. With overwhelming support behind his back, Trebek posted the update, and in the video he speaks a little about the journey so far, and his perseverance through this awful disease.

"The one-year survival rate for stage four pancreatic cancer patients is 18 percent. I'm very happy to report I have just reached that marker...Now, I'd be lying if I said the journey had been an easy one. There were some good days but a lot of not-so-good days. I joked with friends that the cancer won't kill me, the chemo treatments will."

Trebek's Resilience

"There were moments of great pain, days when certain bodily functions no longer functioned, and sudden, massive attacks of great depression that made me wonder if it really was worth fighting on,"

But with dedication, and resilience Trebek continued forward with the fight, "But I brushed that aside quickly because that would have been a massive betrayal." Trebek continues on about how it would be a "a betrayal of my wife and soulmate, Jean, who has given [me] all to help me survive."

"I'll Keep You Posted"

Trebek ends the post with a heart-warming, and motivational message to all those suffering through the same situation as him:

"If I, no, If we, because so many of us are involved in this same situation, if we take it just one day at a time with a positive attitude, anything is possible...I'll keep you posted."

We are so glad to see that Trebek is still with us, and still fighting, and it looks like fans on social media share the same feeling.
