Multiple Gulf countries have banned actress Angelina Jolie’s new movie “Eternals.”

In the film, Jolie plays a warrior named Thena, and it tells the story of ten deities fighting the Deviants.

Also in the movie, two characters, Phastos and Haaz Sleiman are in a same-sex marriage.

This is Marvel’s first same-sex role in a spotlight character.

Though met with criticism, “Eternals” received positive acclaim for its display of disenfranchised communities.

Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar allegedly demanded the movie’s banishment, due to the display of same-sex relationships.

However, Marvel didn’t oblige and denied the request.

Though the backlash was expected, Jolie is sad for the people who live in those countries, who want to learn more about this topic through the movie.

The actress is grateful that Marvel chose to keep those scenes in the film, instead of editing them out to appease the countries.
